Thank you for highlighting safe routes to school! We’re excited to start school on August 20, 2026. Leave early and get to school safely everyone!

The first day of school in Mammoth Lakes is next week! The Town of Mammoth Lakes is proud to participate in the federal Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program, which is designed to create safe, convenient, and enjoyable opportunities for children to walk and bike to school.

Along with these built-in safe spaces, pedestrians, including students, are encouraged to help mitigate risk.

The Mammoth Lakes Police Department reminds everyone to:

• Walk on sidewalks and Multi Use Paths (MUPS) to avoid conflict with vehicles.
• Utilize marked crosswalks for crossing the roadway. Make eye contact with drivers to help ensure they see you. NEVER assume a driver sees you just because you’re on a crosswalk.
• Do not walk with headphones in your ears. Hearing approaching danger will help keep you safe.
• Avoid using or looking at your cellular phone while crossing a roadway. Cellular phones are distracting. Keep your head up and scanning for approaching vehicles.
• While using a crosswalk, first stop and indicate your intention to cross by standing at the crosswalk entrance and scanning for vehicles. If present, press the crosswalk button. NEVER enter a crosswalk assuming you have the right-of-way.

We know a new school year is exciting in many ways. Let’s make pedestrian safety one of them!

🐣 Big news from our TK classroom!

For spring science, our TKers incubated real eggs from Blue Heron Farm! 🚜✨

Over three whole weeks, our little scientists were busy:
🔦 Candling the eggs to see what was happening inside
📝 Journaling their daily observations
🔬 Studying the life cycle of chickens
🤞 Hoping very hard for healthy arrivals

The waiting paid off!

They were absolutely thrilled to welcome 4 beautiful chicks into the world! 🐥💛

Thank you so much for the eggs, Farmer Rachel! This experience was pure magic! ✨👩‍🌾

🐣 ¡Grandes noticias desde nuestro salón de TK!

Para la clase de ciencias de primavera, nuestros pequeños de TK incubaron huevos reales de Blue Heron Farm. 🚜✨

Durante tres semanas completas, nuestros pequeños científicos estuvieron muy ocupados:
🔦 Observando los huevos a contraluz para ver lo que ocurría en su interior
📝 Escribiendo en sus diarios de observación
🔬 Estudiando el ciclo de vida de las gallinas
🤞 ¡Y deseando con fuerza que llegaran sanos los pollitos!

¡La espera valió la pena!

¡Estaban emocionadísimos de dar la bienvenida al mundo a 4 hermosos pollitos! 🐥💛
