As we prepare to welcome our littlest learners—including our first-ever class of UPK students at Maurice W. Downing Primary School—we are proud to announce that Ms. Gibbons has been appointed as the District’s Coordinator of Early Learning and Literacy! 📚 ✨

Having previously served as a dedicated reading teacher at Downing, Ms. Gibbons brings deep expertise in early reading instruction and a strong passion for student achievement. In this key leadership role, she will focus on strengthening early learning initiatives and expanding literacy support to guide our youngest scholars toward lifelong success.

Dr. Yudin’s dedication to Malverne spans years of leadership and classroom expertise. From her start as a special education teacher at Howard T. Herber Middle School to serving as Principal of Davison Avenue Intermediate School for nine years, stepping into this role is a natural next chapter in her continued service to our district!

Her deep roots in our community, commitment to student advocacy and passion for inclusive education will continue to strengthen our programs and support our families across all grade levels.

Welcome to the Malverne family! 💙🧡 We were thrilled to officially welcome our newest educators today during our annual New Teacher Orientation!

Our new team members kicked off the day with workshops on our district mission, curriculum and culture. They met with administrators and directors—including Superintendent of Schools Dr. Maria Rianna and Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services Dr. Vincent Romano—took a tour of our school facilities and spent time connecting with our incredible student leaders to gain their unique perspectives.

What a wonderful morning getting to know our newest Junior Mules and their families at Saturday's Kindergarten Playdate! The district extends a big thank you to all the families who joined us and to our amazing Maurice W. Downing PTA for helping bring our community together. Everyone had a fantastic time connecting and getting to meet Downing’s new principal, Mr. Kuehn, as we gear up for an incredible school year ahead! ✨
