In2Risk - Free for College Students!
The CPCU Society is dedicated to providing students with resources they can leverage to gain exposure and develop skills crucial to serve the risk management and insurance industry as future decision makers. That is why In2Risk is free to college students! If any members of our Syracuse CPCU Society Chapter personally know students that could benefit from attending In2Risk, then please spread the word.
In addition to the great educational content where they can learn about leading trends and topics in the industry, there are 4 sessions dedicated solely to students, beginning with a student orientation session that takes place on Wednesday, October 7 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm EST. This session serves as an introduction to the conference and will provide students ways to elevate their experience at In2Risk and beyond. They are also invited to join industry leaders for various career conversations that focus on particular functions in the industry.
We hope to welcome as many students as possible!
If there are any questions, they can be directed to Maureen Gillespie, CPCU Society Manager of Emerging Leaders at [email protected] or 610-251-2236.

Today is Patriot Day. Be a Patriot. 🇺🇸
As we are currently going through a major world event, for some, it can be challenging to take a step back to reflect on the tragedy that transpired 19 years ago today. 9-11-01 impacted New Yorkers, Americans, and the world as a whole.
As an Insurance Professional, it is easy to recall the devastating and long lasting impact those events had when aircrafts became weapons, lives were lost, property damage forever changed the NYC skyline, and “TRIA” would become a highly legislated and commonly used piece of industry jargon.
I urge you to remember the coming together as a Nation that occurred on 9-12, as the result of an awful day. In the end, it brought out the best in us.
Amid the major world events surrounding us, we are not as different as we’ve grown to believe, and the world still continues to parallel that which existed 19 years ago.
Take a moment today to thank the first responders who are on the frontline protecting our health and safety.
Take a moment to reach out and check in on someone who is impacted by isolation, or struggling with the onset of home schooling.
Take a moment to notice the similarities you have with someone who may be a different race, gender, religion, political party, or sexual orientation than you.
Take a moment to walk in the shoes of those protesting, those afraid to go to the store to get essentials, or those who need a break from feeling an overwhelming weight of the world on their shoulders.
Going into the weekend, may we find the same togetherness that brought us together as New Yorkers, Americans, and citizens of the world, and allow it to guide us through the major world events that are impacting us now.
9-12 is upon us. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” - Helen Keller

The following statement that was issued on behalf of the CPCU Society.
NO MORE
The CPCU Society, along with the rest of the world, is disheartened and sickened by yet another senseless death in the black community. While the answers to racial injustice are complex and multi-faceted, we stand with all those impacted to say NO MORE.
While many in the United States thought we were past these issues, recent events prove we are not. We vow to be a part of the solution and do whatever we can to ensure that each individual is treated as an equal and with respect regardless of skin color, religion, sexual orientation, or any other attribute that unfairly labels someone as "different." Our black colleagues may look to be okay to us. But that may not be their truth. The CPCU Society is committed to open dialogue to promote change.
Pain does not respect work or home boundaries. We care about the safety and welfare of people of color and their right to live free from racism and injustice. Support of this movement will make us a better and stronger nation and will make the CPCU Society a better and richer organization.
