Forty years ago, our founder and the sisters of the Songzhu (Pine and Bamboo) Sisters Association brought a whole China Day to a Massachusetts classroom.
"Who says the Chinese are just a loose pile of sand?" they asked.

Creativity · Storytelling · Family
So many precious family stories were preserved at our One Minute Family Story Collage workshop: learning to ride a bike for the first time with mom 🚲, dressing up for Malden's Gaming District parade, exploring caves with dad, fun visits with grandparents in Canada 🇨🇦, a love of strawberries 🍓, and several volumes of "how much I love my mom and dad" ❤️
A huge thank-you to Sharon Santillo for leading the workshops!

✍️ Pick a family story: perhaps a trip, a holiday, a sleep-over, any shared adventure and make a small storybook about it.
✂️ In this relaxed, family-friendly workshop led by artist Sharon Santillo, you'll turn a one-minute family story into a small collage keepsake to take home. All materials provided — feel free to bring a few photos to include in your collage!
🌟 Bonus: Sharon is bringing a typewriter, so you can type out your very own title, letter by letter.

Our youth leaders showed up in full force to support, connect, and protect our local community at the recent Exploring Malden River event! From civic engagement, problem gambling prevention, mental health awareness, check-in, children's activities, and so much more.
🗣️ One of these student volunteers shared their experience from the weekend:
"By utilizing my multilingual skills while doing table outreach and event support, I was able to communicate efficiently and effectively. By doing so, I made community members feel more comfortable—especially those whose first language wasn't English."
✨ Want to get involved? If you are a high schooler or a parent/caregiver, reach out to Haley at [email protected] for more info!

Founded in 1985, Chinese Culture Connection (CCC) has spent over four decades connecting cultures and building community. In 1999, we put down roots in Malden, and we've been growing alongside this city and its community ever since.
Thanks to the support of the Malden Community Connections Grant, we've had the chance to reopen CCC's archives — revisiting old photos, documents, and the many small moments that make up our story. And we'd love to share that journey with you, the community that's walked alongside us all these years.
Over the coming weeks, we'll be sharing:
📸 Historic photos from our archives
📂 Documents and records from years past
💬 Stories of connection, culture, and community
We hope you'll follow along as we look back on where we came from — and forward to all that's ahead. 🌱
Special thanks to Lu Xi for all her help scanning and sorting through our archives!
