We wholeheartedly agree. Bias in appraisals is not only unethical—it’s illegal. However, this campaign unfairly targets a profession built on independence, impartiality, and consumer protection. Congratulations to Carmen Cruz, who was recently awarded a scholarship by the Chapter's Hewitt Scholarship Committee to attend the General Appraiser Site and Cost Approach course this November at the Courtyard by Marriott in Woburn, MA. Carmen, a recent recipient of the Appraiser Diversity Initiative scholarship, is a Chapter Practicing Affiliate working towards her Certified General License. She resides in Newport, Rhode Island. When asked about the impact of the scholarship on her goals, Carmen shared, "This is a great opportunity to connect with others in the classroom. It's an advantage to take the class in person."
