🎉 Week One: COMPLETE! 🦅❤

And just like that… our first week of school is in the books! 📚✨

What a week it has been at Maize Intermediate School! Our Eagles have been busy getting settled, making connections and finding their way around their new school routines.

🎶 Our 5th graders kicked off the year with an exciting Band & Orchestra assembly and got to meet their teachers, explore the building and start getting to know what life at MIS is all about!

🦅 Our 6th graders stepped into a new year with new teachers, familiar faces and plenty of old friends to reconnect with. They’ve been showing our newest Eagles what it means to be a leader at MIS!

From first-day nerves to new friendships, big smiles and lots of learning, we’ve loved watching our Eagles soar this week!

We can’t wait to meet or 5th and 6th graders tomorrow!

We are excited to welcome our students back to the classroom for our next school year! Please note that Maize USD 266 observes a staggered start day for students as follows:

Tuesday, Aug. 18: First day of school for all of grades 1 through 9 and pre-k and kindergarten students with last names beginning with letters A through K.

Wednesday, Aug. 19: Second day of school, with school in session for all of grades 1 through 12 and pre-k and kindergarten students with last names beginning with letters L through Z. Please note that, as with all Wednesdays, Aug. 19 will observe early release for professional development time for educators.

Thursday, Aug. 20: School in session for pre-k through 12.

🎉🦅 WELCOME BACK, MAIZE INTERMEDIATE FAMILIES! 🦅🎉

The wait is almost over! We are SO excited to welcome our Eagles back to Maize Intermediate School TOMORROW, August 18!

As we kick off an amazing new school year, we want to make sure everyone has a smooth and safe start. Here are a few helpful reminders for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. ⬇️

🌅 Morning Drop-Off — Helpful Hints!

⏰ Building doors open at 7:20 a.m.

🚗 All students being dropped off by an adult in a vehicle must use the Parent Drop-Off/Pick-Up Lane on the west (backside) side of the building.

🚌 The front Main Entrance parking lot is for staff parking and bus drop-off only. Parents may NOT drop off students in the front Main Entrance parking lot. This helps keep our students and staff safe — thank you for your help!

➡️ Please pull forward as far as possible in the Unloading/Loading Zone before stopping and allowing your student to exit the vehicle.

🛑 Please DO NOT unload your student before the Unloading/Loading Zone. The zone begins at the sign and the first custodian holding the Stop/Slow sign.

🌅 Afternoon Pick-Up — Helpful Hints!

⏰Dismissal is at 2:50pm Mon, Tue, Thu and Friday and Wed at 2:15pm

🚌 Bus Riders: Encourage your student to work hard to memorize their bus number and where it is located in our bus lineup. This will help them get safely and quickly to their bus at dismissal.

🚗 Parent Pick-Up: Parent pick-up takes place in the same location as morning drop-off. Please encourage your student to actively watch for you while they wait. The faster they can identify you and get into your car, the better the traffic flow will be for everyone!

➡️ Please pull forward as far as possible to help keep traffic moving. Once your student is safely in the car, please pull slowly to the outside lane and exit.

🚶‍♀️🚲 Walkers & Bike Riders: Please continue to stress the importance of safety. Students must use the stoplight crosswalk at 45th St. N. & 119th St. W. to cross 119th St. W.

We can't wait to see our Eagles back in the building! Thank you for your patience, teamwork and help as we get our first few days underway. Together, we'll make it a GREAT start to an incredible school year!

🍎✨ A BIG THANK-YOU to our MIS community! ✨🍎

What better way to welcome our teachers back into the building than with a room full of yummy snacks, treats and a whole lot of love! ❤🦅

A HUGE shout-out to our MIS PTO and everyone who donated snacks and treats to make our staff welcome-back spread extra special! Your generosity helped kick off the school year with full hearts (and full snack tables! 😉).

We also want to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped set up, organize, restock and clean up! 🙌 Your time and effort did not go unnoticed!

We are so grateful for the amazing support our MIS staff receives from our families and community. Thank you for helping us remind our teachers just how much they are appreciated and for helping us start the year with a little extra joy! 🎉❤
