Biotechnology Engineering students completed a conservation study today! Students analyzed DNA evidence from samples of Ivory obtained illegally from the poaching of wild African Elephants. Gel electrophoresis enabled students to determine the genotype and the source of the ivory. This evidence was connected to populations and specific geographic locations in Africa.

Mrs. Fogarty’s AP US Government and Politics class participated in bureaucratic “speed dating” last week in which students represented different government agencies and met with representatives from other agencies to learn about how government employees carry out, implement, and regulate laws, and in the process discovered which agencies were compatible with their own.

The many challenges from the last 8 weeks and first few matches of the weekend couldn’t stop the Robo T-Birds from making an amazing comeback! Special shoutout to the drive team; coaches Kiera Reed and Anthony Cafiso, drivers Gavin McClure and Jada Cohn, with assistance from Varsha Narayanan, Emilie Inzinna-Enriquez, Sreesmahitha Bhamidipati, and Andrew Kroczynksi. Congratulations to Thomas Paolillo for earning the Safety Captain All-Star Award, voted best safety captain by the other Robotics Teams at the event.”
