On Thursday, June 11th, Mahwah High School Seniors will attend a special on-line “Assembly” sponsored by the MHS Guidance Department and the Mahwah Municipal Alliance. The presenters from Inspire Wellness will be Clinical Directors Rachel Santiago, LCSW and Elizabeth Williamson, LCADC, LCSW & Kate Martino, NCC.

While all of us have been effected in a number of ways by this pandemic, high school seniors have undergone a great loss of their own. Aside from the loss of major milestones such as prom and graduation, seniors face the uncertainty of what lies ahead for the near future. This presentation is focused on helping seniors understand their loss in a healthy way in an effort to assist them grieve and cope with their individual losses. This will focus on strengths-based approaches to help seniors cope with these current stressors while recognizing their new found strength and resiliency, and will also address the losses specific to student athletes who have lost their spring seasons. These resources can be carried with them onto what lies ahead.

Biotechnology Engineering students completed a conservation study today! Students analyzed DNA evidence from samples of Ivory obtained illegally from the poaching of wild African Elephants. Gel electrophoresis enabled students to determine the genotype and the source of the ivory. This evidence was connected to populations and specific geographic locations in Africa.
