Happy National SEL Day! ❤️✨

SEL stands for social and emotional learning, and it benefits people of all ages. When we build strong social and emotional skills, we function better mentally, socially, and academically.

It’s fitting that SEL Day takes place during Social Work Month. This year’s theme, ✨Uplift. Defend. Transform✨ highlights the meaningful work social workers do to support growth, resilience, and opportunity.

That’s why Ramapo’s Upward Bound Math Science program, which helps Paterson teens prepare for college, has intentionally integrated SEL into its curriculum. One of our very own MSW interns works with students to strengthen skills like setting goals, identifying and coping with difficult emotions, and communicating effectively.

By building these skills, students are gaining tools that uplift their well-being, defend their potential, and help transform their futures.
