Come learn a different and easy art form: August 20 2:00-4:00! There is a $5 registration fee (check only) to cover materials. This is fun and relaxing to do, and you learn to work with a pattern similar to a quilt without darning a needle.

"Kinusaiga is a contemporary Japanese art form that combines elements of traditional textile techniques with modern materials and methods. It involves creating intricate fabric collages by pressing fabric scraps into pre-cut grooves on a foam board, resulting in textured, layered artworks without the need for sewing. This technique offers a tactile and visually rich alternative to conventional quilting or embroidery." https://www.hudsonvalleyatelier.com/japanese-sutajio/

We are entering the final week of registration!

This is a new self-study project for youth interested in wildlife, habitat management, plant science, agriculture, forestry, and the outdoors.

Participants will learn to prepare, plant, maintain, and observe a wildlife food plot using seed provided by Pennington Seed Company. Each participant will also receive one free soil test for their project plot.

Registration is open now and closes July 31. The registration fee is $10. Promotional materials and project information are attached.
A Zoom training for registered participants will be held August 11 at 6:00 p.m. Dr. Jacob D***s with the MSU Deer Lab will cover cool-season wildlife food plot best management practices, and we will also review project requirements and competition details. The training will be recorded and shared afterward.

Some of the most meaningful investments are made quietly.

The Pike County 4-H program recently received a generous $5,000 donation from a former 4-H member who wishes to remain anonymous. While he lives out of state, he spends time in Pike County and has come to appreciate our community. Having experienced firsthand the positive impact that 4-H had on his own life, he wanted to invest in our local program so that today’s youth, and future generations, can enjoy the same opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.

His generosity is a powerful reminder that the influence of 4-H extends far beyond county and state lines. The lessons learned through 4-H - leadership, service, responsibility, and citizenship - stay with young people for a lifetime and inspire them to give back to others.

We are incredibly grateful for this meaningful gift and for the confidence he has placed in Pike County 4-H. Because of supporters like this, we can continue providing life-changing opportunities for the young people we serve.

Thank you for believing in the mission of 4-H and in the future of Pike County’s youth.

How much sugar is in your beverage? Did you know there is over 1/4 cup of sugar in a 20oz Mountain Dew or a medium McDonald's sweet tea?! 🫪😱 It will take you 3.5 miles to walk away the sugar consumed in ONE of those drinks!

This was the information presented to the incoming teachers at McComb School District during their health fair this morning. Water is best, and if you need suggestions or more information on helping your water taste better and why it is good for you, take a look at this publication: https://extension.msstate.edu/publications/happyhealthy-fact-sheet-water
