Colleen taught us about glass fusion this morning. We learned so much! We used Colleen's setup of the small round kiln and a microwave. We could get two to three jewelry pieces on the base at a time.
We're a friendly makerspace . Member driven, community focused. The MakerBarn is a non-profit makerspace located near The Woodlands, Tx.
A makerspace is similar to a fitness center, but instead of building muscles, the members of the makerspace build things, all kinds of things. Members have access to professional grade tools and machines. There is a woodworking shop with Table Saw, Band Saw, Planer, Jointer, Scroll Saw, Sanders, Wood Lathe, and assorted other hand and power tools. There is a Welding Shop, Machine Shop, and upstai

We're making Digital Logic Trainers today with George's design.
By day, David H is a PA, but by night he designs and figures out how to make cool stuff. This latest project is a 3D printed LED light fixture with a solid wooden base. He even 3D printed somre jigs to use in the Shop. These are solidly built and whimsicaly fun.
George conducted a 2-day class on B/W photography at The MakerBarn. We used Holga cameras and each person shot 12 pictures. We developed them on-site, digitized them, and printed out the pictures today. Big fun!
The Holga 120N is a medium format film camera that uses 120 film. It was introduced by Universal Electronics (Holga) around 2003. The camera is known for its low-fidelity aesthetic. It has a 60mm meniscus lens and apertures of f/8 and f/11. The aperture is set via a switch on the front of the camera. The camera has two shutter speeds, 1/100 or 1/125, and a bulb mode.
All of our indoor shots did not turn out. But many of us achieved the "low-fidelity aesthetic" with our outdoor pics!

Member/Manager, John Hoaglund, taught a pen turning class this morning. Skill building and fun for all!
Have you ever wondered what you can do with a 12 ton hydraulic press? Member Jim and his brother Robert needed to push out a lathe spindle from its bearing in order to put on a new belt. Success!
