This past week we welcomed back our students and staff to our 2026-27 school year. The hallways and classrooms were filled with awesome vibes, learning and laughter. In service is not only a time to prepare for the year ahead, it’s a chance to collaborate with amazing educators and grow together, an opportunity to share experiences and perspectives that inspire us to make the world a better place. We had the best trainers and mentors offering us important lessons and today our team will welcome our students for our 2026-27 “Meet the teacher/Open House”… get ready, set, GO!

Engineering camp was a total success! Our students loved learning creatively and developing engineering skills as they built their own systems. Marble runs, tunnels, bridges, towers, trains, catapults and other structures were all enjoyed throughout our last summer camp this past week! We love to watch our learners play together and have opportunities to make great friendships each year. For those students that only attend camps each year… until Summer Adventure 2027 camp, we wish everyone a wonderful 2026-27 school year!

Weird Science camp was explosively fun! Our students loved the science show that Mr Jacob and Mrs Haley helped put together; giving us the best ending possible for the week. Students of all ages loved getting together outside for the fun experience. Thank you both for always going the extra mile to help every student get the best learning experience possible at Sherwood. Our classes were exploring different aspects of science each day and discovered the use of different substances to make fun chemical reactions, slimy messes, art and more. Soaps, water, alcohol, oil, peroxide, baking soda, milk, black pepper, corn starch amongst other options were used in our classrooms and kids enjoyed the activities with their friends and awesome teachers.

Our camp 4, “Buggy World”, was the best one in June. Talk about the most brave students who surprised us all by taking the opportunity to learn and explore the critters that were visiting our campus. Crickets, roaches, millipedes, and earthworms made their way into our students' hands or displayed tanks. We invited some hairy spiders too (aka tarantulas) and learned about their diet and watched them feed on some insects. Thank you, Brooklyn Mitchell, for sharing your knowledge and love for your pets. We are grateful to you and Mrs. Haley, since some of us teachers only watched carefully behind the glass doors. 🪱🕷️🦗🪳
