We were visited by a K-9 unit from Harris County Sherriff's Department. Kris and his handler Deputy Cody came to teach all about their jobs and demonstrate their skill.
Kris is so fast and did an amazing job finding the hidden item planted by his handler.
We were joined by Growing Heroes Preschool and together our students got to try on some the gear and equipment.
At the end our MS and HS kids got to hear some detailed stories about K-9 work. It was a fantastic event!

Hey Texas Youth Summit and Christian Collins, how do you like our new cover photo?

As part of our Career Navigation program we were visiting by a retired ATF agent, Jesse Chester. He shared his stories, pictures, news articles, and challenge coins from years of service. He even worked for President Ronald Reagan at one point! We learned what a day in the life of an ATF agent looks like, as well as what it takes to become one. Our students loved it!
Career Navigation is a program that connects our middle and high school students with professionals in various industries and fields. The goal is to expose our students to a wide variety of careers that helps to inform their pathway beyond high school.

Did you know we offer a half-day kindergarten option? At Traditions, Monday-Thursdays from 8:30-12:30, students will receive literacy & math instruction from experienced teachers (lunch & recess are included). Want to know more? Let's talk curriculum!

For literacy, "Logic of English Foundations" is our top choice! Here is what we love about it: it teaches the mechanics of how and why words are formed through phonograms. It also emphasizes handwriting, reading, & reading comprehension. We have had great success with this curriculum, even for struggling readers. Is your child already a reader? No worries there, we will meet them where they are!

Math can be a tougher subject for many, so we use RightStart Mathematics. This curriculum offers multi-sensory learning approaches which can be crucial at this stage. What makes this instruction unique is that it is taught using an AL Abacus. With this technique of teaching, children can then visualize numbers rather than counting. Quickly, they begin to learn to spot groups of five and think in terms of "five plus. Got a little mathematician? Our small group approach allows us to place our students together at "levels" so every student is either challenged or gets the extra attention needed.

Alongside these two courses of study, we include game based learning to re-enforce the lessons that have been taught.

Our kindergarten fills up fast so schedule a tour TODAY!

Here is a sneak peak at how our middle school students applied their novel knowledge to their presentation projects.

Research shows, presentation skills help students thrive academically & socially resulting in more effective communication.

We are so proud of these guys and the hard work they put into their Matterhorn projects!

VOLUME UP!

Nothing to see here, just zooming with author Mike Hamel, author of "Matterhorn the Brave" books.

After wrapping up "The Sword and the Flute" by Mr. Hamel, our middle school students were rewarded with a book party and this surprise Zoom call with the storyteller himself!

Did you know drawing boosts memory? 🧠

Drawing forces us to process information visually, kinesthetically (movement), & semantically (meaning/symbolism).
Researchers have found that it doubles our recall! ✍️ That's the power of a doodle! ✍️

In this ever growing age of technology, 👨‍💻coding can be an essential skill to have. It is known to develop persistence, communication, creativity, and higher-order thinking. 🤔

Once Traditions students reach middle school, we allow them structured and supervised use of computers. One of these reasons is for our students to hone their skills in Exploration class. This year we are focusing on drawing & coding.

What was your favorite middle school elective?

On Fridays, our Traditions high school students receive life skills training. Thanks to America's ER, ten of our students went home last week with their CPR certifications. Through teamwork, they became empowered by these acts of preparedness in life-saving skills. Other benefits of the CPR certification are enhancement of personal growth, career opportunities, community service, and good citizenship!

We invite homeschool students to join our Life Skills Training Courses. We also welcome members of the community as instructors and mentors. If you are interested in these opportunities, please don't hesitate to reach out.

We had the incredible opportunity to go to our state capitol in Austin yesterday and advocate for school choice (SB 176). We were able to thank house representatives for their support and share our stories with those who are still considering their position. We met Steve Toth and thanked him for all of the hard work he's demonstrated on our behalf. It was a special treat for our students to join a rally with Governor Greg Abbott.
We toured the capitol and explored so many spaces we'd not seen before.
We offer our heartfelt thanks to Martha Fierro and Americans for Prosperity for organizing and inviting us to this meaningful event!

Some of our high school students were invited to attend the Youth Leadership School through Leadership Institute in Raleigh, North Carolina this past weekend. It was an intense yet amazing 2-day event. Thank you, Kayleigh, for introducing us to Leadership Institute and inviting our students! We are excited and anxious to connect with some local campaigns!

Our students recently started a Turning Point USA chapter on campus and were subsequently invited to attend a fundraising gala by National School Chaplain Association this evening. It was a truly wonderful night that delivered some powerful speakers. They are fighting to bring chaplains into the public school systems, and therein hope, light, and the love of God.
Thank you, Anna and Ricky, for inviting us to such an important event!
