Rattler Family, we are a week away from the start of the cross country season. Our junior high and high school boys and girls teams will begin the season next Saturday (Aug. 29) when they compete in the Saints Invitational hosted by Shiloh Christian in Springdale. Rattler Family, we often say, “Once a Rattler, always a Rattler”! Following tonight’s senior high football scrimmage, our former Rattler football stars to the field for a 7-on-7 tournament. It was great to see Rattler football players of all years unite for friendly competition. A huge Rattler thank you to all those former Rattlers who were able to play tonight and make this a very fun community and school event. Rattler Family, our senior high football scrimmaged tonight during our Rattler Football Kickoff/Alumni Celebration, and what an exciting finish. Blandon Combs took the handoff and plowed his way through defenders on his way to the end zone for a touchdown. Rattler Family, what a great night of community fellowship and football at our Third Annual Rattler Football Kickoff/Alumni Celebration at Shorty Wright Field at Diamondback Stadium. We unveiled our senior high Rattlers new look as they prepare to begin their first season of eight-man football. A huge Rattler Pride thank you to everyone who braved the heat to support our Magazine Little League teams and cheerleaders, our MHS band, our Ratller cheerleaders and our junior high and senior high football teams. Rattler Family, with temperatures reaching 105 degrees, our students couldn't play outside, so Mrs. Chappell's and Mrs. Hughes' second grade classes turned the heat into a science experiment! They placed crayons outside and observed the changes the sun can cause to materials. It was a fun, hands-on way to turn a very hot day into an exciting learning opportunity. Rattler Family, are you ready for some football? Our Rattler Football Kickoff/Alumni Celebration is tonight (Friday, Aug. 21) at Shorty Wright Field at Diamondback Stadium. The gates will now open at 6 p.m. with player introductions beginning at 6:35 p.m. There will be player/member introductions for Magazine Little League teams, Magazine Little League cheer teams, Magazine Schools cheer teams, junior high and senior high football teams and the MHS band. There also will be a Red and Black senior high football scrimmage and a 7-on-7 alumni game. Admission is $5 and includes a hot dog and a bag of chips (first 500 fans). Please note that admission is capped at $20 for families of four or more. A limited concession stand will be available for the purchase of drinks and candy. Rattler Family, school has been in session for a week now, and there's lots of learning going on in our classrooms.. Wednesday, junior high students in Mrs. Green's math class and Coach Suttles' science class were working on a probability lab in math and science. Rattler Family, learning is required at Magazine High School, but it's fun, too. Sophomore students in Mr. Gipson's U.S. History classes continued their study of The Great Depression today by participating in a gallery walk with five stations of information about the causes of The Great Depression -- The Stock Market Crash, Farming in the 1920s, Protective Tariffs, The Wealth Gap and Consumer Spending.
