It's a big year for us here at Prairie Meadows as this is the 35th year since the inception of the track, and as part of this year, the Iowa HBPA is hosting the National HBPA Convention & Elections!

We look forward to racing this 35th season and the National Convention!

7 years ago we lost a wonderful horse, who could have been a twin to secretariat. We didnt race him as i thought he was too straight theough the hocks and would not stand up yo the rigors. He sure had the stride!
I thank god that no one died trying to rescue him. They tried, he refused. I am thankful that 29 horses were in fact saved.
Going forward, fire safety is job one for all of us, but we get busy. Take dome time this winter and improve safety as your facility. The lives you save may be yours, friends, family or precious horses.

I will be proposing an alliance with USHJA Outreach so AQHA classes may be offered at the USHJA shows. Less expensive and more opportunities to showcase our beloved QHs!

I love this take-off picture of Ian Millar and Big Ben. Ian’s position is exemplary. Soft arms allowing his horse to load his front end, weight in his heels lengthening his calf for a tighter leg in the air and lightening his seat, upper body well forward to be with the horse at the take-off, and hips back keeping him in the perfect balance. I call it the “V” position for the take-off. - Bernie Traurig

By Lauren Davis I finished seventh in my adult medal (aka “Cougar Medal”) this year in our Greater San Diego Hunter Jumper Association Championship Show. Of course I’d wanted to win or at least come home with a tri-color. I spent a great deal of time visualizing my perfect round and putting an...

By Rennie Dyball There’s nothing like a pandemic to get people thinking about their safety. In tack shops and in online groups alike, riders outside of the eventing world are talking about incorporating an extra safety precaution in the saddle. But with so many choices and such a wide range of pri...
