We'll be sharing some of our favorites poems, stories, and quotes from African American authors! Anyone is free to participate, and refreshments will be served. Shaela Brown was the winner of the library's Blind Date with a Book! Shaela, a Criminal Justice student from Madisonville, was entered into the annual drawing for having checked out a book during the first two weeks of February. She won a Dairy Queen ice cream cake, a $25 Visa gift card courtesy of First United Bank, a bouquet of flowers courtesy of the Mark of Distinction, and a box of chocolates courtesy of Pattie Jewell in the library. Common Reader Movie Event! Tuesday, February 18 - 12:15-1:00 in the Library. Join us for a movie presentation of Legend of the Monkey God, the National Geographic documentary based on this year's Common Reader, The Lost City of the Monkey God by Douglas Preston! For decades, explorers have been searching the dangerous rainforests of Central America for the location of a legendary "lost city." In 2012, using advanced radar technology, a shocking discovery was made, and in 2015, a team of archaeologists and anthropologists entered the jungle to begin unraveling the mysteries of an ancient culture.
