We are fortunate to have Mr. Stone with us at GES several days a week! Congrats on your award!

The Hopkins County Schools Legacy Award, given this year for the first time, was presented to Eric Stone.

The Legacy Award is a prestigious honor bestowed upon a highly dedicated, long-time employee. It recognizes an individual whose sustained commitment, exceptional character, and profound impact have fundamentally shaped our district for the better. This award celebrates an active career that consistently goes beyond standard expectations, honoring someone who continues to leave a permanent, positive mark on our schools and community. We plan to continue to include this each year in the Employee of the Year Award presentations.

Eric Stone is known for having a huge heart for his community. His love for his students and staff is not something he speaks about often, but he lives it every single day. His leadership helped build a school culture where people matter and community comes first. He grew up in that very same community and demanded that students at West Hopkins get the same nurturing guidance that he received at Nebo and West Hopkins High School.

He has devoted his entire professional life to serving the West Hopkins community. The decades he has spent investing in the people of West Hopkins has made the community stronger because of his care and concern. While he has stepped back from his principal role because of his upcoming retirement, he’ll still be making his presence known through the end of this year. This person has left a legacy that will continue to be felt in Hopkins County Schools for years to come!
