Talent Search (TS) is a federally funded TRIO program that provides educational guidance services to encourage individuals in the pursuit of further education or training after high school. Individuals in the program receive information and assistance on career and academic planning. On June 2nd, TRIO Talent Search students enjoyed a trip to Bowling Green! They participated in a tour of Lost River Cave, had lunch at Chaney’s Dairy Barn, and were given a tour of Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYTC).

On June 10th, MCC Talent Search students attended a STEM camp at MCC. The Kentucky Science Center provided such activities as a DNA crime scene investigation, 3D printing, and dissecting a sheep heart. The students also tie-dyed t-shirts at the camp.
Yesterday, these students traveled to Nashville! Students enjoyed a visit to the Adventure Science Center, lunch at Hattie B’s Hot Chicken, and campus tour of Tennessee State University!

WKU's First-Gen High School Summer Camp will take place June 14–17, offering Kentucky high school students the opportunity to experience college life, build confidence and learn more about navigating higher education as first-generation students.
This free residential camp is designed for students who would be considered first-generation college students. High school sophomores, juniors and seniors in the fall of 2026 are eligible to apply.
Registration is still open! Completed applications are due before June 7.
