Greek Club at UW-Madison

Thank you to everyone who came to the outing last night! We had a great time, and enjoyed some classic Greek cuisine at Plaka Taverna!

We will be taking a break from meetings until next semester, so everyone can focus on preparing for final exams and projects, but keep thinking about Greek Club and we will let you know when the next meeting will be after winter break.

Finish the semester strong everyone!

A big thanks to Professor Beneker for joining us this past Tuesday and sharing some of his knowledge of Greek language with us! It was really cool how we actually were able to read a line in Aristotle by the end!

In the discussion afterwards, we talked a little bit about the study abroad trip to Greece, and Professor Beneker noted that some of the students who went on the trip in the past made blogs about their experiences... Here are two of those blogs that you can check out on your own time. We look forward to learning more about this trip and other stories about travel to Greece at a future meeting!

We hope everyone has had a great summer, and we hope some of you took this summer to be thinking about Greek history and culture! We would like to announce that the Greek Club at UW-Madison will be present at the Fall 2016 Student Organization Fair which will be held at the Kohl Center from 5-8pm on Wednesday September 14th, and Thursday, September 15th! We would love to have you stop by our booth!

In addition, the club is currently still accepting ideas for meeting themes and topics that we can implement and discuss at our club meetings. If you have an idea (large or small) that you would like to submit, just send a message to this page!

Ελπίζουμε ότι ο καθένας έχει ένα μεγάλο καλοκαίρι , και ελπίζουμε ότι κάποιοι από εσάς πήρε αυτό το καλοκαίρι να σκεφτόμαστε την ελληνική ιστορία και τον πολιτισμό ! Θα θέλαμε να σας ανακοινώσουμε ότι η Ελληνική Λέσχη στο UW - Madison θα είναι παρόντες στο Φθινόπωρο 2016 Φοιτητική Οργάνωση Έκθεσης που θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Kohl Center από 5-8pm την Τετάρτη 14 Σεπτεμβρίου και 15 Πέμπτη Σεπτέμβριο ! Θα θέλαμε πολύ να σας έχουμε σταματήσει από το περίπτερο μας !

Επιπλέον , ο σύλλογος αυτή τη στιγμή εξακολουθεί να αποδέχεται τις ιδέες για την εκπλήρωση θέματα και θέματα που μπορούμε να εφαρμόσουμε και να συζητήσουν στις συνεδριάσεις συλλόγου μας . Εάν έχετε μια ιδέα ( μικρές ή μεγάλες ) που θα θέλατε να υποβάλουν , απλά στείλτε ένα μήνυμα σε αυτή τη σελίδα στο facebook !

Hello everyone!

As of 1:27pm May 4, 2016, we are so excited to announce that we are officially a registered student organization! Our official name is "Greek Club at UW-Madison," but we will be operating under the nickname "Greek Life" for short. With exams coming up, we decided not to have an informational meeting this semester, but we will be up and running come this fall. Over the summer we encourage everyone interested in becoming a member to brainstorm topics for meetings and to get excited to learn about Greek culture!

Από τις 13:27 4 Μάη, 2016 , είμαστε τόσο ενθουσιασμένοι να ανακοινώσουμε ότι είμαστε επίσημα καταχωρισμένος οργανισμός φοιτητής ! Το επίσημο όνομα μας είναι η «Ελληνική Λέσχη στο UW - Madison , " αλλά θα πρέπει να λειτουργεί υπό το ψευδώνυμο " Ελληνική Ζωή " για συντομία . Με εξετάσεις ανεβαίνει , αποφασίσαμε να μην έχει ενημερωτική συνάντηση αυτό το εξάμηνο , αλλά θα είναι μέχρι και λειτουργίας έρχονται αυτό το φθινόπωρο . Κατά τη διάρκεια του καλοκαιριού ενθαρρύνουμε όλους όσους ενδιαφέρονται να γίνουν μέλη στον καταιγισμό ιδεών θέματα για συναντήσεις και να πάρετε ενθουσιασμένος για να μάθουν για τον ελληνικό πολιτισμό !

Ευχαριστώ για την ένταξή μας στην προσπάθειά μας για να εξερευνήσετε το μεγάλο πολιτισμό και την ιστορία της Ελλάδα ! Είμαστε πολύ ενθουσιασμένοι για να γίνει η πρώτη ομάδα στην πανεπιστημιούπολη αφιερωμένη ελληνική ζωή !

Παρόλο που δεν είναι ακόμα επίσημα ενεργό φοιτητική οργάνωση συνεργάζεται με το Πανεπιστήμιο του Wisconsin - Madison , ελπίζουμε να είναι πολύ σύντομα ! Έχουμε μόλις υποβληθεί σύσταση του συλλόγου για την επανεξέταση από τις UW διαχειριστές φοιτητική οργάνωση , και υποβάλλονται σε μια εκπαίδευση πριν μπορούμε να είμαστε επίσημο . Στόχος μας είναι να οργανωθεί και να λειτουργήσει για το φθινόπωρο 2016 εξάμηνο με ένα περίπτερο στη δίκαιη Οργάνωση Φοιτητών στο κέντρο Κολ για να εξαπλωθεί η λέξη . Εμείς θα κάνουμε το καλύτερο δυνατό για να κρατήσει ο καθένας που ενδιαφέρεται για την ελληνική ζωή ενημερώνεται το συντομότερο γνωρίζουμε για το επίσημο καθεστώς του συλλόγου . Hi all!

Thanks for joining us in our quest to explore the diverse culture and history of Greece! We are very excited to become the first club on campus dedicated to Greek life!

While we are not yet officially an active student organization affiliated with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, we hope to be very soon! We have just submitted the club's constitution for review by the UW student organization administrators, and are undergoing a training before we can be official. Our goal is to be up and running for the fall 2016 semester with a booth at the Student Organization fair at the Kohl center to spread the word. We will do our best to keep everyone that is interested in Greek Life updated as soon as we know about the official status of the club.
