Everyone says do a social story. Everyone says give them time to prepare. The reality is, when you do the prep ahead of time, it doesn’t alleviate the anxiety all the way up to it. Hot take, but I chose not to tell my daughter until we were in the car. I did pair it with a trip to target, her favorite.  I did give her a Benadryl before. But, we survived. Nay, thrived.

My spicy six-year-old is growing really quickly. She’s 4’5. 80 lbs. I think blood draws are gonna be in our future for a while. And today she rocked it.

They gave her a butterfly needle and was in before she knew it and once it was in, and we were telling her that that was all, and she was able to look down and not feel pain and understand the process. I think she said “it feels good” 😂I think we will always deal with anxiety when it comes to blood, but today was a big win. If you know, you know.

New Service coming to Wildflower Wonders- Learning Groups!
Vicki is a longtime special educator and Doctor of Education and can't wait to offer her teaching skills to our kiddos!

Separate from ABA, OT, and Speech, but can be built into current Wildling's current enrollment or offered to new Wildflower clients.

We need feedback on where the needs are and are looking at these options:

1. Little Learners- are you concerned your toddler is delayed? Let's offer Mommy and Me learning groups for the smallest learners while we assess and work on developmental skills. (group).

2. Ready- Set- GROW- School readiness is a struggle for many kids with disabilities, but their best chance at an inclusive start is getting some foundational skills in place first. With 4-6 year olds in mind, let's target some specific skills so Kindergarten starts smoothly.

3. Homeschool Parents- who is exhausted fighting your homeschooled kid on certain topics? Let a special education specialist work with them and train you on best approaches for each individual kiddo. Hate math? We got you covered. Bring in your homeschool curriculum or topics that you need help with and Vicki can tailor tutoring to those skills in clinic setting so home can be more "home" for families and less fighting the hard stuff.

4. IEP skills- Vicki can build on your current IEP goals and structure individual learning opportunities to build on the school day's progress.

5. IEP Auditing- Vicki has been a fierce school advocate, but opening the clinic has limited availability in schools. She is offering an as-needed Parent/ IEP Audit in clinic. She can explain test results, explain what the service page means, and can help prepare parents to suggest changes to their child's IEP. Going through IEPs with a pen and highlighter, let's get your concerns documented at the next meeting and enable you to be the best advocate.
