Intergenerational Health & Wellness Initiatives:
We are entering a powerful new phase of our work that intentionally connects boys ages 10–14 with Black men over 60 to strengthen mental, emotional, and physical well‑being across generations. Our elders bring wisdom, grounding, and lived experience; our boys bring curiosity, energy, and a need for guidance. When we bring them together, both groups thrive.

Youth Mental Health Initiative:
In the coming weeks, we will launch the Developing Innovations in Mental & Behavioral Health: Confronting the Youth Mental Health Crisis, a middle‑school youth mental health initiative funded with a three‑year grant from the Wisconsin Partnership Program. This new initiative expands the Rebalanced-Life Wellness Association mission by creating culturally grounded spaces where boys can build confidence, emotional awareness, and healthy coping skills supported by the presence and mentorship of older Black men.

We have secured the Allied Boys & Girls Club as our anchor site for integrating the Wheels of Wisdom spinning class. Through movement, conversation, and mentorship, the boys gain guidance, affirmation, and positive male role models. Thank you Dr. Jeneile Luebke and Dr. Alvin Thomas for helping to guide this initiative.

This year, my nonprofit, the Perry Family Free Clinic, is participating in the Big Share. The Big Share is an online day of giving that supports the nearly 70 member nonprofits of Community Shares of Wisconsin. Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 4th, is the day! Due to political uncertainty, the clinic is facing withdrawals of federal grants. This means our clinic is facing grave danger of closing. We’ve saved the community $3 million dollars since our inception and would like to continue doing so. Please, if you are able, consider donating. Any donations made at 7:45 AM or 3:30 PM are instantly matched for our clinic. There are also bonuses for having the most unique donors in an hour as well as the most dollars raised in each hour.

The Rebalanced-Life Wellness Association would like to thank the Medica Insurance Company for their kind end of the year donation that will support our Black Men's Health Accountability and Lifestyle Intervention group in 2025. Our primary focus will be stabilizing and improving the cardiovascular health of Black men who are insured, uninsured and those experiencing gaps in their insurance. More to come....

Extremely blessed to have an exhibit representing my vision for Black men’s health, opening in the City of Atlanta, GA, CDC Museum from November 25, 2024 through August 1, 2025. Approximately seven years ago, I commissioned a report with Public Health called the Social and Health Conditions of Black Men. The report identified significant health disparities while acknowledging the average age of death for Black men in Dane County as 51-years of age. I decided to turn this health crisis into action by opening three Micro Clinics in Black barbershops and created a 5-book series on Black men’s health. In less than 2.5 weeks, my vision, exhibition and book series will soon be shared with a worldwide audience and because of this I’m filled with gratitude.

I began prepping for my final speech of 2024, and looking forward to promoting Black men’s health from the nations capital next week. I’m also enthusiastic to share our new Behavioral Health Center and Harm Reduction initiatives with each panelists and especially Patrick J. Kennedy who is one of the world's leading voices on mental health and addiction.

Thank Peoria, Illinois for coming out to support my Barbershop Health Book Tour sponsored by Dean Health Plan by Medica and the Medica Foundation. The day couldn’t have been scripted any better. I connected with some amazing people and created a collaboration with the President/CEO of Tri-County Urban League to host a kids book club this summer. My book tour has stopped at Black barbershops in Madison, Wisconsin, Minneapolis, Minnesota and now Peoria, Illinois. Up next is a stop in St. Louis, Missouri and concluding the book tour with visits to barbershops in Lincoln and Omaha Nebraska. Blessed beyond measures.

Throughout my life, I have learned that many will see the mountain top, but most will rarely see the climb.
