We'd like to give a huge shout out to Neo Manavalan! Neo worked on our vouchering project this year through the Undergraduate Research Scholars program. He spent the year, pressing, drying, identifying and mounting plant specimens from the Botany Garden and Greenhouse. This specimens provide a critical resource for verifying plant identifications and creating a lasting record of the plants in our collection. Neo received an award for his poster design and presented a flash talk about the project. His poster will be on display all summer on the third floor of College Library!

๐ฑ Plant of the Week: Flamingo Flower (Anthurium andraeanum)
Brightening the greenhouse with its glossy, heart-shaped leaves and vibrant โflowerโ, the flamingo flower is actually showing off a colorful spathe- a specialized leaf that surrounds the plantโs true flowers.
๐ฟ Adapted to warm, humid environments, flamingo flowers have thick, waxy leaves that help conserve moisture, making them well suited for life as understory plants beneath the rainforest canopy.
They're a standout favorite in our greenhouse collections!
๐ Come see them for yourself
