The UW-Madison PA Program didactic students, along with their DNP and PharmD counterparts will be in the process of planning a May 2022 trip to Independence, Belize. Hopefully UW opens to global travel and the Belize MoH will allow travelers in.

"Well, yesterday's supposed-to-be easy day of travel turned into an incredibly long day of travel home. This restored my faith in humanity. Yesterday, this woman on my flight had twin babies, probably under 6 months, not so sure of the age. It was a very packed flight so they started taking carry on luggage to store under the plane. A gate worker took this woman's car seat, meaning she would now have to hold both babies since they weren't old enough to sit up on their own in a seat. When she sat down on the plane, a flight attendant immediately told her she couldn't hold both babies, and would have to leave the flight. A mother sitting in front of me, with permission from the other mother, volunteered to hold one of her babies for the entire flight. Keep in mind this was a flight that was supposed to be a quick 45 minutes. We ended up sitting on the tarmac for 2 1/2 hours! Without a complaint this woman fed the other woman's baby and burped him. Her own daughter started crying. This mom, so calmly, went on to explain to her young daughter that 'our job is to help other people. This mom is all by herself with no help, and really needs another mom to help.' She then went on to hold him, sing him songs, and then he slept the entire flight without even a cry. My heart still feels fuzzy. Moral of the story is when you see people needing help, do the right thing and help them."

The UW-Madison PA Program's Mission HELP has just become an "interprofessional" organization. Yesterday we we had three DNP students from the School of Nursing sign on to accompany and learn with our group next May in Belize. We look forward to working with Katy Remler, Emily Schumacher and Ann Titzkowski.

Thank for all the help (putting together baskets, selling tickets, or buying tickets) at the fall WAPA Conference! With everyone's help we brought in $1134.17 for Belize!!!

Bike 4 Belize this last Saturday down at the Farmer's Market got our fundraising off to a great start for the spring 2016 trip! We'll be at the Madison Mini Marathon registration and expo August 21 if you want to see more of us working hard on the trainers. :)

It's hard to believe our wonderful team has already been back for three weeks! It was an unforgettable experience, we look forward to recruiting students from the newest PA class for another successful trip. Planning starts this month! Thanks again for everyone's continued support.

Big THANK YOU to everyone who supported Mission H.E.L.P and the trip to Belize this year! Students returned this past weekend with a new set of amazing experiences and memories-- eager and inspired to start their clinical year. As a final count, we saw 389+ patients and performed 116 paps. Thank you to BFLA and The Belize Cancer society for partnering with ourselves and Peacework this past week to make these numbers happen!

Hey Belize team! Just a little heads up, bring lots of condoms, they went like crazy over there. We brought almost 3,000 I think and had to spare them out after the first day. I emailed the different companies and lifestyles sent me the most and then uw madison has a group called "s*x it loud" who matched our donations and gave us another 1,500 more I believe! Excited for you all!
