Korean American Student Association at UW-Madison - KASA We exist for all students at the UW-Madison to assist, guide, and encourage students in identifying with Korean-American culture.

Our mission is to encourage and guide those who are interested in Korean-American culture. As Korean-Americans, we fully experience two distinct yet encompassing cultures; therefore, KASA strives to help Korean-Americans in this community find balance in their identity. Our purpose is to promote a better understanding of Korean-American culture, heritage, and tradition. We attempt to create an atm

osphere for Korean-Americans to accept and express themselves through traditional and contemporary Korean culture as well as experience the common American life. Thus, we hope to solidify ourselves through group activities, community oriented functions, outreach programs, and social events. For the UW-Madison campus, we aim to produce a voice for Korean-Americans--representation for issues and concerns facing the dual cultures blended into our everyday lives, enriching our social identity and our college experience. By working with other student organizations on this campus, we want to provide a social, political, and a academic support network on campus.

**Please do not think that KASA is only for Korean-Americans, we are open to whoever is interested in joining and/or learning about the Korean culture!

Do you want to be more involved? Are you seeking for internships? Are you interested in Korean culture? Do you want to learn more about KASA?
This is a great opportunity to be involved and be part of the planning and behind-the-scenes operations for KASA! If you are interested to be on board for the next academic year, we highly encourage you to being on board as an intern first!

Happy Chuseok (추석)!!🍂🍂 Chuseok or Autumn Eve is a holiday that celebrates the autumn harvest in Korea. It's similar to an American Thanksgiving. Usually on this holiday families get together to eat and give gifts to each other. Also, on this holiday, Koreans make a certain kind of rice cake called Songpyeon (송편). Songpyeon is a type of rice cake filled with sesame seeds, chestnuts, red bean, and more! It's usually served with pine needles.
