Come join us! Hidden words are in this post, comment below what you see 👀
1) Will my GPA suffer? Myth Buster: No. A study by the UW’s institutional research office reported that average GPAs at graduation of all students eligible for Biocore are high – over 3.30. Of those who actually take Biocore, their average GPAs are even higher – 3.55.
2) Can I study abroad? Myth Buster: Yes. Many students take the first two or three semesters (Biocore 381, 383, 485), go abroad for one or two semesters as juniors, and then complete Biocore as seniors.
3) Will Biocore lengthen my time to graduate? Myth Buster: No. Students who begin Biocore in their sophomore year, typically complete their degrees in four years (or less). Check out our bio to see sample four year plans.
4) Do I have to take all four semesters? Myth Buster: Some majors require only 3 of 4 semesters or 2 of 3 lab courses. Student’s earn the certificate, upon completion of all four lecture courses and two of three lab courses with a grade of B or higher in all BIOCORE courses and a 3.33 cumulative GPA.
Bonus Fun Fact: Biocore is its own Honors program. All Biocore students are Honors students upon admission. You do not have to be in another Honors program to apply to be part of Biocore. APPLY NOW! 😊

What is your favorite place to study in Noland Hall?
“My favorite place to study in Noland Hall would have to be room 355. It is a great room to have late-night lab workshops. My favorite part is having the whiteboards and collaborating with my peers!”

This is Nick! ⭐️
Nick is majoring in Neurobiology and Spanish with a Biocore Certificate. He is also one of our peer advisors!
Why did you want to be a Biocore Peer Advisor?
“When I first joined Biocore, I participated in Biocore Buddies, and it helped me get prepared for Biocore, as well as the next stages of college. I decided to be a Peer Advisor to help coordinate the program that I benefited from.”
