Vivienne, a rising senior studying educational policy, spent last summer interning at the Center for Urban Teaching in Milwaukee, focused on preparing and supporting teachers. The internship provided a 10-day intensive training in teaching before placing her in a classroom of first and second graders as a co-teacher for four weeks.

Because of donors, Vivienne received timely assistance that allowed her to participate in this challenging yet rewarding hands-on learning experience. This internship gave her a new perspective on what she’s learning in her education courses. “Talking about being in a classroom and being in charge of one are two incredibly different experiences. One cannot truly understand what a teacher goes through every day until they stand in that position,” Vivienne shared.

This weekend, one of the UW’s most popular annual traditions returns with the start of the Summer Music Clinic. The UW has offered this program since 1929, making it the second-oldest music camp in America (after the Interlochen Center)!

SOAR, Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration, UW–Madison’s official welcome for incoming undergraduate students is underway! Throughout the summer, thousands of new Badgers will visit campus to meet advisers, register for classes, connect with their future classmates, and begin their Wisconsin experience.
