It is time that the University of Wisconsin-Madison leads on the issue of fair campus wages and working conditions, not follows!

Minimum wage hikes are coming for the kids at Columbia University Columbia University and NYU are two schools upping their minimum wage to $15 per hour over the next few years. New York state's federal minimum wage is $9 per hour.

UW student wage increase fails to meet cost-of-living expenditures Campus workers deserve real raise which affects most employees.

Last week we attended a meeting of United Way of Dane County where Chancellor Becky Blank was scheduled to speak. We handed out fliers to the attendees about how student workers need a living wage to survive. We hope the Chancellor listens to our plea for a desperately needed $15 minimum wage for all campus employees. We would also like to thank United Way of Dane County for tackling issues of poverty and working to affect change for those in Madison need it the most.

This weekend SLACers joined together with hundreds of students from across the country for the United Students Against Sweatshops National Conference, where we made clear that all campus workers deserve 15 dollars an hour and respect in the workplace!
