The Middle East Studies Program (MESP) fosters knowledge of the Middle East, its past and current economic, social and political developments, and seeks to facilitate teaching, learning, research and public awareness of the diverse array of Middle Eastern languages, cultures, and peoples. The all-campus Study Abroad Fair returns to Gordon Dining & Event Center on Tuesday, September 29th!

The fair is a great way to learn the basics of the study abroad planning process and explore programs and international internships. We are excited to announce that MESP, in collaboration with the Project on the Middle East Political Science (POMEPS) at George Washington University, invites proposals for a workshop on the Iran war and its impact. This will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026 on the UW-Madison campus. Papers could address any dimension of the war’s effects — political, security, economic, social, environmental — and can focus on any part of the Middle East, broadly defined.

Papers are due by September 11, 2026.
