We are featuring the amazing Bri Fiene as the WIB Alumni Spotlight for this semester! Check out her Q&A with below:
✨How would you describe your role?
I directly support our Quality engineers across all of our WI location along with our manufacturing plants. Additionally, I support the entire rework and warranty departments for Milwaukee Tool. My favorite part of my role is that each day is never the same. With a fast-growing company there are always different things going on or challenges to maneuver. There is not a day that is boring, which helps keep my role very engaging.
✨What has the transition from student to full-time professional been like for you?
At first, it was a bit tricky as you are thrown into a new role. During your first few months, work will seem incredibly overwhelming but that is completely normal. Make sure to take time to soak in all the information you’re learning and never be afraid to ask questions (or even ask someone to show you how to do something again). Once you establish a routine that balances your work and personal life things become a lot easier. Work days can get very busy, so make sure to block off time on your calendar to do things for yourself (workout class, walk outside, etc.).
✨If you could give your college-self a piece of advice, what would it be?
Enjoy every bit of college as you can. After your graduate and start a job, your responsibilities double and your free time is bounded by a work day. You will quickly miss those days when you only had 3 hours of class, time throughout the day to do things you want, and no real responsibilities (outside of turning in hw and exams)!
✨What advice would you give to WIB members as they pursue internship/full-time opportunities?
With any role or job you take on, try to be as social as you can within your beginning months. I know it will feel awkward attending outside of work events, but you will get to learn about your colleagues on a more personal level. It makes going to work a lot more fun when you have connections with your teammates outside of work (and if you’re at a company where there might not be many outside activities, be the one to initiate!)
