Maven teacher, Sachie Ueshima, will be presenting a recital this Friday!

This recital explores reflections on love, memory, and human connection through four deeply personal vocal works by American composers, each drawn from letters and intimate texts. John Kander’s A Letter from Sullivan Ballou sets the poignant words of a Civil War soldier writing to his wife, while Libby Larsen’s Songs from Letters brings to life the spirited voice of Calamity Jane through her letters to her daughter. Emerson Eads’ Love Is offers a tender and imaginative portrait of love through children’s own definitions, and Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 closes the program with a nostalgic meditation on family and childhood.
