The City of Madison is developing a Safe Routes to School Strategic Plan in conjunction with the Madison Metropolitan School District and the Wisconsin Bike Fed. The plan will provide policy and programmatic recommendations to improve the safety, comfort, and accessibility for children walking and biking to school in Madison.

The City is hosting a virtual Public Information Meeting to provide an overview of the planning process, key recommendations in the plan, a description of how the public can comment on the plan, and time for questions and answers. The draft plan document and a comment form are currently posted on the Safe Routes to School Plan website. The meeting is Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm on Zoom. Registration is required for the meeting.

The plant sale fundraiser knocked it out of the ballpark! Huge thank you to Linda Rand and Principal Gwen Frank and volunteers that helped make this such a success. These sweet seedlings earned a solid $790 for our gardening programs. We know they will be cultivated with love and bring even more yummy happiness to generous gardeners in our community.

You know what is better than ice cream? Serving ice cream to teachers and staff and watching their faces light up when they see two giant tubs of Shake Shack soft serve and a huge assortment of toppings all in their honor. Seriously. It's the best. Okay, actually our teachers and staff are the best, but making them smile is a really close second.

Happy School Principal's Day! We are so lucky to have these two amazing leaders at Midvale and Lincoln. Their knowledge, generosity, humor, and courage directly influence the wonderful culture our children and families get to experience in our school community. We love you Gwen and Abby!

Happy School Secretaries Day!
You know that feeling when you reach out to the school and either Kelli or Sharon answers and they magically take care of whatever it was you needed? It might *feel* like magic, but it is actually care and professionalism in action. We are all so lucky to have them!
The SCO wanted to show some appreciation with a little gift bag of goodies, because they deserve to be celebrated!
