Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School, Madison, Wisconsin

For almost 100 years, fathers have been bringing their children to be baptized at Holy Cross and walking them down the aisle. Relationships with their families have been strengthened by worshiping together, and by attending special events - like the Father-Son Banquet in the 1960s with Packer player Jerry Kramer, and the Father-Daughter dance that was held this spring.

The world tries so hard to pull families apart. On this Father's Day and always, may we pray that fathers have a renewed commitment to their families and strive to gently shepherd them as Jesus shepherds us - with sacrificial love, protection and grace.

Holy Cross is blessed with an amazing group of young people, and they're having a weekly Youth Group Hangout this summer! 🎊🥳

If you know someone going into 7th - 12th grade, we'd love to have them join us! 🌞 The first one is tomorrow - Wednesday, June 17, from 6 - 8 pm. Bring shoes to run in, a water bottle and a Bible! G'day mate! What a fun-filled first day of VBS everyone had today! About 80 kiddos enjoyed Bible stories, games, crafts, snacks and even science experiments - all surrounded by some epic Australian decorations! 🐊🌴 A huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make it look amazing!

One of the joys of summer is attending Vacation Bible School, and we hope your kiddo or grand-kiddo will join us next week, June 15 - 18, for an Epic Australian Adventure! 🇦🇺 From 9-11:30 am they will learn about the amazing country of Australia through games, stories, crafts and songs - all while being guided by the knowledge that "Jesus is the way, the truth and the life". ✝️

How special to have two of our Holy Cross veterans go on Honor Flights in the last few weeks! Dave Mathison was a Sergeant E-5 in the Army National Guard and served as a motor vehicle operator during the Berlin Crisis. Denny Behr served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1999, attaining the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer E-9. A number of Holy Cross members were there to welcome them home; and both gentlemen were accompanied by their sons on the trip, which made the experience even more memorable. ❤️

Please join our Holy Cross family in thanking these men - and all of our veterans - for their dedication and sacrifice protecting the freedoms we have in this amazing country, especially our freedom to worship. ✝️🇺🇸

Over the past 100 years, Holy Cross Church has primarily used these three hymnals - The Lutheran Hymnary, Lutheran Worship and Christian Worship - and for many years used "The Bugenhagen Order" for the liturgy. We can still hear Pastor George Orvick singing. ❤️
