Congrats to our February Lancer of the Month winners! This month’s theme is:
OPPORTUNITY! Students have had a variety of extra opportunities recently to get extra support, including Lancer Saturday Academy and special ACT Saturday prep sessions. Additionally, we have Lancer Study Lounge, Achievement Connections tutoring, and many many classroom teachers who offer up their free time or Lunch and Learn to provide additional support. These students have taken advantage of these, or other, recent academic support opportunities!

Earlier this week, we announced the hiring of Toren Young to be Lafollette's next Head Football Coach. There was a steady stream of posts about this exciting news, so I decided to wait until the end of the week to comment. I am beyond excited and proud of this move to further elevate Lancer Football. When Coach Young was introduced, he made some very powerful remarks about who we are today and what we can become in the future. Coach Young stated that "I believe Lafollette is a hidden gem. We need to raise the bar. I believe we have the best athletes in the area".
As your Principal, Toren's comments reach beyond the weight room, practice field, and Lussier stadium. I believe our school is a hidden gem. For far too long, we have thought of our school, our students and ourselves as second class to other schools in the city or suburbs. We have let others define who we are and our identity. I challenge all of us-IT IS TIME TO RAISE THE BAR. There is excellence here at LHS. We have excellent students. We have an excellent staff. We have an amazing and supportive community. It is now time to take control of our narrative.
I challenge all of you over the next few weeks to tell your story of Lafollette SOUL. Use your influence and social media presence to share your pride in this school and our community that is anchored in love and commitment to each other. Lafollette is the place with the most talented and beautifully diverse student body in this city and county.
Congratulations to Coach Young!!!

Tonight was a celebration. We have so many awesome things happening at Lafollette. We had the grand opening of our Art Gallery with an inaugural showing. Our Girls Basketball Team won! To top all that off, our multi-talented Lancers put on the amazing musical-The Wizard of Oz. Congratulations to the cast, crew, and musicians for this production.
