🌼 Spring is here, and our classrooms are blooming! 🌼
The children in both our Green Room and Brown Room have been busy observing the beautiful forsythia branches as they burst into bright yellow blossoms. Through close looking, conversation, and hands-on exploration, they noticed the delicate flowers, the long bending branches, and the signs of new life all around them.
Inspired by what they saw, the children brought spring to life through their own creations.
Carefully drawing, gluing, and designing their own forsythia branches.
These experiences nurture curiosity, creativity, and a deep connection to the natural world. What a joyful way to welcome season of growth and renewal! 💛

Our pre-k classroom learned about artist Alma Woodsey Thomas, an inspiring African American abstract artist known for her bright, joyful paintings. We read three storybooks about her life and talked about how she used color to express happiness and movement.
The children then became artists themselves, creating their own masterpieces inspired by her colorful style! It was amazing to see their creativity shine as they explored patterns, color, and self-expression. 🎨 🌈✨

MSYC celebrated Holi, the Festival of Colors! 🌈

Holi marks the arrival of spring and celebrates joy, unity, and the triumph of good over evil. One of the most loved traditions is tossing colorful powder into the air, symbolizing happiness, positivity, and bringing people together.

Our entire school joined in the fun, filling the day with laughter, learning, and lots of color!

Happy Lunar New Year! 🧧
Our Brown and Green Room friends paraded through the school dressed in red for good luck and gold (or yellow)for prosperity. The Green Room children carried a dragon and lion puppet to symbolize strength, protection, and good fortune. 🐉🦁
We celebrated by sharing mandarin oranges which is a symbol of wealth and abundance for the new year. 🍊
May this year bring joy and prosperity to all!

The Green Room and Brown Room got creative and kind to nature by making ice-mold bird feeders! We took advantage of the cold temperatures to care for our environment and spend meaningful time outside connecting with nature.

Our Waddler Classroom (Red Room) had a groovy day inspired by Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes! Book by Eric Litwin and James Dean
Our smaller friends explored the story in a hands-on way by painting with the bottoms of their shoes, just like Pete! This playful activity brought the book to life while supporting language development, early literacy, and creativity. Learning is even better when you can stomp, paint, and have fun doing it!

Snowy days are for playing! Today our friends bundled up and headed outside to explore, move their bodies, and enjoy the magic of winter. Getting outdoors, even in cold weather, builds strong bodies, boosts moods, and sparks curiosity. Fresh air fun all year long! 🧤🧣❄️
