The Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) promise club held a successful bake sale Feb. 22 at Stop & Shop. Madison shoppers were generous with their donations as they were coming in to get their last minute items before the snowstorm! The club raised $600 for Orange Ribbons for Jaime, a charity created after the Parkland school shooting in honor of Jaime Gutenberg.

All Juniors attended a Career Expo at DHHS on Feb. 3. Over 65 career professionals attended, giving student lots of opportunities to meet with different local businesses and learn about a variety of professional careers!

On January 10th, DHHS students attended the annual Talking Science program held at the prestigious Rockefeller University in New York City. Students heard a presentation, explored interactive demonstrations, talked to graduate students about career/college advice, and participated in an informal Q & A session with the scientist.

This morning we held our Alumni Experience Sharing Session for seniors. Members of the Class of 2026 sat down with 25 alumni to hear firsthand experiences and ask questions about the transition from Hand to college or the workforce. Thank you to all of the DHHS alumni who joined us!

Students in the DHHS music program traveled to Miami this month to participate in music clinics at the University of Miami and perform in the city. On the trip students also had the chance to experience snorkeling in the Keys, interacting with dolphins, and going on an airboat ride through the Everglades!

On Nov. 11, students and staff held a Veterans Day ceremony. The program included student remarks, performances and a recognition of numerous local veterans. Earlier in the day, the DHHS community also participated in the dedication of a new flag at the entrance of the school. The new flag flew above the U.S. Capitol building back in 2012 and was recently given to the school.

During today’s school-wide event, students participated in several activities including a Club Fair featuring over 30 DHHS clubs. School Counselors and Helping Hallway Staff held meet and greet sessions for grade 9 students, and guest speakers from Principle Wealth met with grade 12 students to share financial literacy tips for beyond high school.
