The Latino Academy of Workforce Development is deeply saddened by the passing of Michael Johnson, President & CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County.
Michael's commitment to creating opportunities for youth and families will leave a lasting impact on our community for generations to come.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Michael's family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County family during this difficult time, as well as to the greater Madison community mourning the loss of a leader who transformed countless lives.
We are especially grateful for our partnership through our Pre-Apprenticeship Program, which has opened doors for high school students to explore meaningful career pathways and build brighter futures.

This year's Dane County Highway Department Internship has officially begun! This 30-week internship, in partnership with the Urban League of Greater Madison, is a paid, hands-on training opportunity that prepares participants for long-term employment in street maintenance and construction.

El pasado jueves celebramos la graduación de los estudiantes de nuestros programas de Preaprendizaje Juvenil (Youth Pre-Apprenticeship) y Next Gen.

Nos llena de orgullo ver cómo nuestros estudiantes crecen, desarrollan confianza en sí mismos y descubren un interés por los oficios de la construcción. Last Thursday, we celebrated the graduation of our Youth Pre-Apprenticeship and Next Gen Program students.

We are honored to see our students grow, build confidence, and develop an interest in the construction trades. We look forward to following their next chapter as some of them continue exploring apprenticeship opportunities after high school.

Thank you to the team at the McKenzie Regional Workforce Center of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County for creating this opportunity for our youth. A special recognition goes to the Wisconsin Laborers' District Council (LIUNA!) for developing such a strong curriculum for our students to follow.
