Drew SJP will not tolerate hateful rhetoric being spread on campus and the normalization of the occupation of the Palestinian people. Drew University must take action against this campaign that seeks to villainize those who fight for the justice and liberation of the oppressed. Drew University maintains that they are committed to neutrality, however it makes an exception when it comes to Palestine. Over the last 8 months, Israel’s assault on Gaza has killed over 37,000 Palestinians and displaced nearly two million, while restricting access to life sustaining necessities like food, clean drinking water, medical care, electricity or adequate housing. We, the Drew community, are repulsed by the continued silence and repression of Pro-Palestinian activism by Drew University’s administration. 🚨ATTENTION ALL DREW UNIVERSITY ALUMNI!!! 🚨

Drew AJP is encouraging all alumni to boycott the upcoming reunion scheduled for June 7-8. The boycott is in response to Drew’s failure to be transparent with their endowments towards companies profiting from the ongoing genocide and occupation in Palestine. Instead of contributing donations to Drew, we are encouraging alumni to redirect their support and donate to accredited organizations providing aid in Palestine. At the beginning of May, we asked the Drew community to help us raise money to go towards keffiyehs for Drew students. We are happy to report that we were able to raise $1,800 in under two weeks! With the help of the Palestinian American Community Center we purchased 200 keffiyehs to be distributed amongst peers. About half of these keffiyehs were gifted to graduating seniors who chose to wear them during their graduation ceremony, which coincidentally fell on World Keffiyeh Day. Remaining keffiyehs have been entrusted to SJP for future fundraising and programming.

We want to thank our community for coming together in a short amount of time to help students show their support for Palestine on such an important day. The act of wearing a keffiyeh at graduation is not just an act of solidarity with Palestine, but a visual reminder to the University of the student body’s disapproval of the U.S. funded genocide in Gaza. Despite the horrors that have unfolded in Palestine since October 2023, Drew continues to turn a blind eye to genocide, going as far as inviting Zionist actor James Van Der Beek to give a commencement speech in which he compared raising toddlers to terrorism.

We are in complete solidarity with the Palestinian people resisting decades of occupation, apartheid, and genocide. As alumni, we will continue to support student organizers and those in the Drew community committed to a world of collective liberation. Hey, President Link! We read your April 30th message to the Drew community and couldn’t help but notice some scathing errors and disinformation in it. We decided to correct these errors so the community can get an idea of what is actually happening on campus and in Palestine.

We’re utterly disappointed that someone as educated as you cannot call out this textbook case of genocide, and your continued failure to do so fuels the machine that murders Palestinians. Now, it’s your turn to fix the instances of disinformation in your message and be honest with the community that you serve.

Anonymous Drew students displayed a banner on the front gate saying “DREW IS COMPLICIT IN GENOCIDE”. Drew University refuses to fully disclose its investments, commit to divesting from companies profiting off of the genocide in Palestine, or announce its support for a ceasefire.
