🏫 South Side pride was on full display tonight. 💙✂️

Students, families, staff, community members and local leaders came together to celebrate the official ribbon cutting and renaming of Lori Mann Carey Elementary School — a beautiful new learning space that will serve generations of students to come.

This evening was more than a ribbon cutting. It was a celebration of community, opportunity and the enduring legacy of Lori Mann Carey — a passionate advocate who believed deeply in public education, student success and the power of schools to strengthen communities.

From inspiring student performances and heartfelt reflections from the Carey family to the unveiling of Lori's portrait and the official ribbon cutting, the event showcased what makes the South Side so special: a community that shows up for its students and invests in their future.

We are grateful to the Madison community for supporting the 2020 referenda, which made this state-of-the-art learning environment possible, and to everyone who helped bring this vision to life.

Today, we honor Lori Mann Carey's legacy. Tomorrow, her name will inspire countless students to dream bigger, learn boldly, and build a brighter future.
