Prairie Five Head Start and Early Head Start Head Start and Early Head Start We provide children and their families with health, nutrition, social, and other services.

Head Start and Early Head Start programs support the mental, social, and emotional development of children from birth to age 5 as well as expectant mothers. Head Start services are responsive to each child and family's ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage. Head Start encourages the role of parents as their child's first and most important teachers. We strive to build relationships with famili

es that support positive parent-child relationships, family well-being, and connections to peers and community. Early Head Start programs are available to the family until the child turns 3 years old and is ready to transition into Head Start or another pre-K program. Early Head Start helps families care for their infants and toddlers through early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive services. We serve children and their families in the counties of Big Stone, Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Swift and Yellow Medicine with classroom sites in the following towns:

Appleton I, II, III & IV
Classes held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (III & IV are half days)

Benson I & II
Classes held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (A.M.) & (PM) sessions. Canby
Classes held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Clinton/Graceville/Beardsley I & II
Classes held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Granite Falls
Classes held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Kerkhoven KMS

Madison I & II

Big things are happening in Montevideo!

Our partner, Prairie Five Community Action Council Inc. , is celebrating the grand opening of its new Food Hub on August 24. The new facility brings together a food shelf, a commercial kitchen, and Prairie Five Meals, helping make nutritious food more accessible across western Minnesota.
