The spirit of service lives on long after graduation.

Ms. Gisoldi recently had the privilege of sending off several St. Vincent Martyr School alumni as they departed for the annual Appalachia Help Weeks mission trip (ministry that has been transforming lives for nearly 40 years).

What began in 1986 as a flood relief effort by seven teenagers from St. Patrick’s Church in Chatham has grown into a cherished tradition of faith in action. Each summer, volunteers travel to the mountains of West Virginia to serve families in need by repairing homes, improving safety, and offering hope through compassion and hard work.

We are incredibly proud to see our alumni continuing this legacy of service. Their willingness to give their time and talents is a testament to the values of faith, compassion, and community that remain with them long after they leave SVMS.

Please join us in praying for their safety, for the families they will serve, and for a week filled with meaningful connections, hard work, and God’s blessings.

As another wonderful school year comes to a close, the St. Vincent Martyr School community gathered for our annual Closing Prayer Service, reflecting on the many blessings, friendships, accomplishments, and memories that made the year so special.

A heartfelt slideshow captured the joy of the past ten months—from classroom discoveries and special celebrations to athletic achievements, service projects, performances, field trips, and the countless everyday moments that make SVMS feel like family.

Together, we also bid a fond farewell to our graduating students, families moving on to new adventures, and our beloved retiring faculty members. Their contributions have left a lasting mark on our school community, and they will always be part of the SVMS family.

One of our favorite traditions brought smiles to everyone's faces as the Class of 2027 proudly led the annual countdown to summer, celebrating their new role as the school's senior class. Making the moment even more meaningful, members of the Class of 2026 returned to campus as alumni to join the countdown, passing the torch to next year's graduates.

As the final bell rang, we gave thanks for another year of learning, growing, serving, and letting our light shine. We wish all of our students, families, faculty, and staff a joyful, safe, and relaxing summer. We'll see you in September!

What could become a new tradition took flight as Mrs. Dean hosted a Shoe Fling Competition on the last day of school!

Students in grades 1–4 and 5–7 gathered to kick off the summer in memorable fashion—by literally kicking off their shoes and seeing just how far they could fling them across the lot. With plenty of excitement, laughter, and friendly competition, students gave it their all in hopes of earning a coveted spot on Mrs. Dean's famous Wall of Fame. This spot is reserved for those whose shoes soaed the greatest distance.

For years, Mrs. Dean has brought energy, creativity, and fun to physical education at SVMS, turning fitness into an adventure and creating traditions that students look forward to year after year. The Shoe Fling Competition is just one example of the joy and enthusiasm she has shared with generations of students.

As Mrs. Dean begins her well-deserved retirement, we thank her for the countless memories, the lessons in teamwork and healthy living, and the fun-filled spirit she brought to our school community every day.

We wish Mrs. Dean happiness, good health, and many exciting adventures in retirement. She may be leaving the gym, but her legacy—and her famous Wall of Fame—will remain part of SVMS for years to come!

This year, the SVMS faculty and staff bid adieu to four wonderful educators as they begin their well-earned retirements: Mrs. Armas, Mrs. Capote, Mrs. Dean, and Ms. Kaye.

Over the years, these dedicated teachers have touched countless lives through their commitment, compassion, and unwavering devotion to our students and school community. More than colleagues, they have become trusted friends and beloved members of the SVMS family. Their presence, wisdom, and care will be deeply missed in our classrooms and hallways.

Their kindness, guidance, and dedication have left an indelible mark on our school and in the hearts of all who have had the privilege of knowing them.

We are profoundly grateful for the many gifts they have shared with our community and for the lasting impact they have made on SVMS students. The lessons they taught and the example they set will continue to inspire long after they leave our classrooms.

As they begin this exciting new chapter, we wish them happiness, good health, and many wonderful adventures. May retirement bring opportunities to relax, pursue new interests, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy all the blessings they so richly deserve.

Thank you for everything you have given to SVMS. Once a member of our family, always a member of our family. Congratulations and best wishes on your retirement!

Our Kindergarten students marked a very special milestone as they celebrated their graduation from Kindergarten! Dressed in adorable mortarboards and proudly clutching their diplomas, our young learners beamed with excitement as family and friends gathered to honor their accomplishments.

The ceremony was filled with smiles, proud moments, and plenty of applause as students were recognized for all they have learned and achieved this year. Following the graduation, families enjoyed a lovely celebration beautifully decorated by our parent volunteers, and featuring a delightful assortment of treats and refreshments.

As we celebrate this important step in their educational journey, we wish our Kindergarten graduates every success as they move on to first grade and continue to grow in knowledge, faith, and confidence.

We look forward to watching these students flourish in the years ahead and can't wait to see them cross the stage once again as members of the SVMS Class of 2034!

Congratulations, Kindergarten graduates—we know great things await you!

Mrs. Bishop’s sixth-grade Speech students recently showcased everything they have learned this year during their annual Speech Exposition, welcoming family members to see the skills they have developed throughout the course.

Students explained the different types of speeches they studied this year, including informative, persuasive, entertaining, demonstrative, and ceremonial speeches, and presented examples of each. They also recited some of the speeches they had written and delivered throughout the year, demonstrating their growth as confident and effective communicators.

A cherished sixth-grade tradition at SVMS, Speech is truly a rite of passage. Through research, writing, organization, and presentation, students learn how to communicate clearly, think critically, and speak with confidence before an audience. These are skills that will benefit them throughout their academic careers and long into their future professions.

We are so proud of our sixth graders for sharing their voices and all they have accomplished this year. Thank you to the families who joined us to celebrate this special milestone and support our young speakers!
