Exciting updates for our EMT Experience Program:
The next EMTEP cohort is in! We are so excited to welcome and support another group of incredible undergraduate students as they train and serve as EMTs in local rural communities.
This program wouldn’t be possible without the support of our community partners, including the Fire Department of Mt. Horeb, Cross Plains EMS, the Mount Horeb Rotary Club and Alliant Energy.
Alliant and the Rotary recently awarded EMTEP with a community grant that will directly support transportation for students serving as EMTs at the Fire Department of Mount Horeb (FDMH). Thank you for investing in our students and communities!

Earlier this week, our own Dr. Dija Selimi was honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award from UW-Madison’s Office of Academic & Career Success for her 15 years of exceptional dedication to Pre-Health Advising.
Dija has been with the office since its start in 2010, working as a direct advisor, supervisor, Canvas course developer, committee chair, data steward/scientist/artist, curriculum consultant, unflinching advocate for a more just and equitable education system, and so much more. She has supported thousands of students over the years through direct advising and broader resource development. We are so lucky to have you, Dija!

Two more of our remarkable EMT Experience Program (EMTEP) members earned their 'pins' at last month’s FDMH Awards & Recognition Ceremony! This achievement marks the successful completion of their first year at FDMH, symbolizing the certification and training they've undergone to become practicing Emergency Medical Technicians. Go team!
The UW-FDMH EMT Experience Program is an approximately two-year long program that offers a combination of EMT certification, transportation, and hands-on, mentored professional development experiences to undergraduates committed to serving as volunteer EMTs within local rural communities. EMT experience is one pathway for students to gain direct patient care experience and enhanced professional networks, both of which are crucial to reaching their health career goals. This program could not happen without the strong support of the Fire Department of Mount Horeb and the Mt. Horeb Rotary Club. Thank you to these partners and our students for another successful year!
