💙🐎 Welcome back, Midvale Mustangs! 🎉

And just like that, the halls are full again! 🎒✨ Day two brought even more big smiles as our 1st and 2nd graders joined our Kindergartners and 4Kers to complete the Midvale family. From finding their cubby to catching up with old friends, every hallway was filled with excitement and brand-new beginnings.

We’re so glad you’re here Mustangs! Here’s to the best school year yet! 💙

We were so very excited to greet our 4K and Kindergarten students today and look forward to adding our 1st and 2nd grade students tomorrow (Wednesday, September 2nd)!

A few procedure reminders about dropoffs and pickups:

- Students being dropped off can enter on the Caromar or Midvale (playground) side doors. Doors are staffed 7:20-7:35. After 7:35, bring students in to the main door on Caromar. We will welcome you through the main office and get their attendance updated.

- Pickup is 1:10 on Mondays (early dismissal), and 2:30 Tuesday through Friday.

- At dismissal, teachers walk students past buses and help bus riders load their bus. ***Walkers will meet parents at the flag pole.***

- Please use crosswalks - Caromar and Midvale both get very busy at arrival/dismissal. Crossing between cars is very unsafe!

- Please obey all traffic signs - parking monitors are frequently present and do give tickets.

- Bicycles - please walk your bicycle on the sidewalk, and please dismount/unload near the fire lane. Cars are not always able to see bicyclists and young pedestrians often can't navigate around cyclists safely.

- By the end of the day on Wednesday, all students will have their backpack tag showing their pickup plan. Please check that it is correct. Errors? Please let your teacher know!

- Have a different plan for a day? Please email your teacher and/or call the office. The closer to the end of the day, the more beneficial it is to tell multiple parties.

🚨 Weather Update for Tuesday, June 30
Due to forecasted extreme heat (heat index of 95–108°F), all MMSD elementary summer school classes are canceled on Tuesday, June 30.

✅ Middle and high school summer semester programming will continue as scheduled.
🍎 Summer meals will still be available at MMSD comprehensive high schools. Please visit the high school nearest your usual meal service site for meal service.
☀️ MSCR Summer Camps are canceled. Other outdoor MSCR programs may also be canceled in accordance with weather guidance. Participants will be notified directly of any program changes.

The safety of our students, staff and community remains our top priority. We will continue monitoring conditions and share updates as needed.

Please follow National Weather Service heat safety guidance: limit time outdoors, avoid strenuous activity, stay hydrated and keep cool.
