Ferst Readers Ferst Readers provides free books and literacy resources to children (birth to five) to promote early literacy and support family engagement. mail.

Preschool children, birth to five, registered for the Ferst Readers program receive a free, age-appropriate book at their homes monthly via U.S. Parents, educators, child development specialists, and Ferst Readers staff carefully select these books each year for our Read to Me Library™. We are proud that three-quarters of our books are published in Georgia, and that many Georgia authors are included in our book selections. A newsletter accompanies each book, with activity pages for the child, but more importantly, essential information for the parent. As research consistently shows, parent engagement is key to early learning success. Our monthly newsletters are county-specific, so it is a wonderful way to promote literacy/reading events locally, as well as recognize our sponsors publicly and on a regular basis.

BOOKS BUILD BEGINNINGS!

This Literacy Month, Ferst Readers is celebrating a simple but powerful truth: a child’s journey toward becoming a reader begins long before the first day of school.

It begins with a book.
A story shared.
A familiar voice reading aloud.
A few special minutes between a child and someone who loves them.

Throughout Literacy Month, we’ll celebrate the parents, caregivers, volunteers, partners, donors, and communities helping young children build strong foundations for learning, one book at a time.
Because when we put books into the hands of young children, we’re doing more than encouraging reading.

We’re building vocabulary.
We’re building confidence.
We’re building connections.
We’re building beginnings.

Join Ferst Readers throughout the month as we celebrate early literacy and the difference books can make in the life of a child.
Books Build Beginnings. And beginnings build brighter futures.

When you give, children thrive. 💙📚
