Our fourth-grade scientist put their communication and teamwork skills to the test with the No Peeking STEM Challenge!

Working in teams, students were challenged to build a cup tower without looking at the cups while a teammate gave careful verbal directions. This hands-on activity introduced the engineering design process as students planned, created, tested, and improved their designs.

Along the way, they discovered that engineers need more than a good idea. They also need clear communication, perseverance, teamwork, and a willingness to make changes when something doesn’t work the first time!

Our PreK4 artists aren’t the only ones creating masterpieces! Our halls are already full of colorful artwork demonstrating our students’ creativity and unique personalities!

Our second graders created abstract watercolor self-portraits and worked on their writing skills along the way. 🎨

First grade students read Lines that Wiggle and The Day the Crayons Quit, then created their own crayons. This assignment focused on reading comprehension while also setting expectations for classroom discussions. 🖍

To demonstrate their understanding of Wonder, their summer reading book, fifth graders also created self-portraits and held discussions focused on kindness and compassion while reviewing the novel's key themes. 👩‍🎨👨‍🎨

As you can see, artwork at St. Anthony is never just another coloring page. Our students collaborate, create, and dive deep into their content to make connections and create original masterpieces.

Our PreK4 artists are already hard at work! They created self-portraits to celebrate what makes each of us special and to show how we are all an important part of our St. Anthony family. Through painting, children explored their own unique features while learning that every person is different, special, and valued. The class talked about friendship, belonging, and how our classroom is a place where everyone is loved and included!

This morning we gathered as a school community to celebrate our first Mass of the year. As our liturgy began, our sixth graders placed a candle next to each staff member's name, symbolizing our mission to bring the Light of Christ to everyone we encounter. This theme is woven into several traditions throughout the year, as we know it is our charge to be Christ’s Light in our world. During Mass, Father Albeen challenged us to always use what God has given us to do good for others, and we cannot wait to see the good our students, staff, and community will do this year!

While innovation and critical thinking have been essential parts of our educational philosophy since we opened in 2009, this year we are excited to place even greater emphasis on 21st-Century Learning with our new STREAM Class. In an effort to make technology an integrated part of learning and not a stand-alone class, we have enhanced the time our students are spending outside of their homeroom to not just go to “computer class” but to spend time each week ensuring they have a strong foundation in engineering, can effectively collaborate with their peers, and most importantly, feel safe taking chances and being creative! 🧩🎭

Our new STREAM Special is a great addition to all our students’ schedules, but it gets even better! In addition to seeing our students each week in the STREAM Lab, our STREAM Coordinator, Mrs. Vicki Moorehead, is already hard at work supporting and collaborating with our classroom teachers to integrate Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics in ways that are practical and help students make connections from the content they are learning to the real world. 💻

Through our commitment to 21st-Century Learning and our strong foundation in our faith, we are focused on helping our students become well-rounded citizens. We want our students to be equipped to understand, navigate, and contribute to the world around them. We give them the tools they need to use their knowledge, voice, and skills to make a positive difference. 🌎

Whether it’s in their STREAM class, on the playground, or out in our community, we know our Eagles are the innovators and leaders of tomorrow.
