We're wrapping up the school year with lots of learning and celebration! 🎉 Students in Ms. Kempinen's class completed their Latin America unit and celebrated with a potluck, while students in Ms. Lumani's class showcased their learning by presenting newscasts inspired by Farewell to Manzanar. To top it all off, everyone enjoyed cooling down with a refreshing Kona Ice on a warm day! ☀️🍧

¡Estamos cerrando el año escolar con mucho aprendizaje y celebración! 🎉 Los estudiantes de la clase de la maestra Kempinen terminaron su unidad sobre América Latina y lo celebraron con una comida compartida (potluck), mientras que los alumnos de la clase de la maestra Lumani demostraron lo aprendido presentando noticieros inspirados en Farewell to Manzanar. ¡Para cerrar con broche de oro, todos disfrutaron de un delicioso Kona Ice en un día caluroso! ☀️🍧

Last week, we wrapped up our final music concert of the year with an amazing Orchestra performance! Our orchestra students have grown so much this year, and it showed through their confidence! We also celebrated our 5th annual soccer tournament hosted by La Voz del Estudiante Latino. The event was full of teamwork, friendly competition, and Cougar spirit! ⚽🎻

¡La semana pasada cerramos nuestro último concierto musical del año con una increíble actuación de la orquesta! ¡Nuestros alumnos de orquesta han progresado muchísimo este año, y eso se notó en su seguridad en sí mismos! También celebramos nuestro 5to torneo anual de fútbol, organizado por La Voz del Estudiante Latino. ¡El evento estuvo lleno de trabajo en equipo, competencia amistosa y espíritu escolar Cougar! ⚽🎻

This week was full of learning and celebrations at Cherokee Heights! 💙💛

• 6th and 7th grade students enjoyed attendance trips to the Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Co. 🍦

• Our 8th graders represented us well at the All City Track Meet 🏃

• West Star Organics helped make our garden beds look beautiful for the season ahead 🌱

• Students in our Life Skills program who run the school coffee cart visited EVP Coffee to learn more about working in a coffee shop ☕

• Our band students put on an amazing concert and showcased all of their hard work and talent 🎶

We are proud of all the great things happening in our school community!

¡Los estudiantes de 6to y 7mo grado disfrutaron de excursiones por buena asistencia a Chocolate Shoppe! 🍦

Nuestros estudiantes de 8vo grado nos representaron muy bien en la competencia de atletismo All City Track Meet. 🏃

West Star Organics ayudó a que nuestras jardineras se vean hermosas para la próxima temporada. 🌱

Los estudiantes de nuestro programa de Habilidades para la Vida (Life Skills), quienes dirigen el carrito de café de la escuela, visitaron EVP para aprender más sobre el trabajo en una cafetería. ☕

Nuestros estudiantes del programa de banda ofrecieron un concierto increíble y demostraron todo su talento y esfuerzo. 🎶

¡Estamos orgullosos de todas las cosas grandiosas que están sucediendo en nuestra comunidad escolar!

This week we held our Science Expo, where students proudly showcased their interests, hard work, and scientific thinking! Great job to all of our student scientists! 🔬🧪✨

Esta semana tuvimos nuestra Expoferia de Ciencias, en la que los estudiantes mostraron orgullosamente sus intereses, su esfuerzo y pensamiento científico. ¡Excelente trabajo el de todos nuestros jóvenes científicos! 🔬🧪✨

It was an exciting week at Cherokee Heights Middle School! Choir students delivered an excellent concert, 8th graders celebrated their attendance success with a field trip to the Chocolate Shoppe, Drama Club wowed us with their Spring Showcase, selected students attended the 4th Black Male Youth Summit and the Cougar Store was up and running!

We’re keeping the momentum going next week with 6th and 7th Grade Attendance Field Trips on Tuesday, the Science Expo on Tuesday, and the Band Concert on Thursday! Thank you to our students, staff, and families for making our school community shine!

¡Fue una semana emocionante en la Escuela Intermedia Cherokee Heights! Los estudiantes de la clase de coro ofrecieron un excelente concierto; los alumnos de octavo grado celebraron su éxito en asistencia con una excursión a la heladería Chocolate Shoppe; el Club de Drama nos deslumbró con su Presentación de Primavera; un grupo selecto de estudiantes asistió a la cuarta Cumbre de Jóvenes Afroamericanos (Black Male Youth Summit) y la tienda de la escuela, Cougar Store, estuvo en pleno funcionamiento.

¡Mantendremos el entusiasmo la próxima semana con las excursiones de asistencia para 6to y 7mo grado el martes, la Expo de Ciencias también el martes, y el Concierto de la Banda el jueves!

Last week, we had the opportunity to celebrate our incredible teachers all week long during Teacher Appreciation Week! The lunch, snack cart, hydration station, chair massages, trail mix bar, raffles and breakfast were small ways to recognize the huge impact our staff make every single day.

A very special thank you goes out to Texas Roadhouse, Metcalfe's Market, West Star Organics, Target, Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Co., Bartaco, Fred Astaire Dance Studio, Madison School Foundation, and our amazing PFO for their generosity, support, and partnership in helping make the week so memorable for our staff.

We are incredibly grateful for a community that continues to show up for and support our educators!
