💀Portrait Drawing: Likeness, Form, and Anatomy (3 Wednesday evenings, Sept 30th - Oct 14th)
- Discover the beauty of portrait drawing using toned paper, charcoal, and white chalk in this three-week workshop. Working on toned paper allows you to build both shadows and also include highlights, creating more convincing portraits with greater depth and realism. Each weekly session will focus on essential portrait skills, including facial proportions, value, form, and capturing light.

This class is suitable for beginners with some drawing experience as well as intermediate artists looking to strengthen their portrait skills. Through demonstrations, guided exercises, and individual feedback, you’ll complete a series of studies while building confidence in your ability to draw expressive, lifelike portraits.

💀 Portrait Anatomy (Saturday, November 7th; 9:30am - 4:30pm)
- This workshop is designed to teach students the fundamental principles of human portrait anatomy and how to apply them to their drawings. Through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, students will gain a deeper understanding of the human portrait and develop their ability to create accurate and expressive drawings. Topics to be covered include cranial anatomy, muscle structure and movement, and proportions. By the end of the workshop, students will have a solid foundation in anatomical knowledge and the skills necessary to create lifelike drawings of the human portrait. Whether you are an aspiring artist or simply looking to expand your knowledge, this course offers a comprehensive introduction to the exciting world of portrait anatomy and its drawing applications.

Explore Soft Pastels at the Atelier in this upcoming 4 week course with Brigitte Boucher!

Do you love playing with color, but sometimes find it challenging to get the results you want? In this workshop, learn how to make color theory work for you through the unique medium of soft pastels.

Because pastels don’t require pre-mixing or drying time, they are ideal for trying new things and exploring the rainbow. Learn creative pastel techniques while building your color knowledge in ways that are fun, approachable, and practical.

We’ll cover techniques for achieving lifelike, naturalistic color, and then experiment with ways to push color in bold, expressive directions. In the end, you’ll have a solid foundation for making confident color decisions in your work—whether you continue in pastels or apply what you learn to other mediums.

This workshop, aimed at people looking for a foundation in representational drawing, gives students the tools to build and strengthen their observational skills in order to make drawings that are convincing and true to life.

Using a step-by-step process, participants will discover a number of principles to help see, interpret, and express the world around them. Demonstrations, slideshows, and personalized critiques guide students through each stage of the process.

This workshop will be a good introduction for students without much experience, but it also has a lot to offer for experienced artists who are looking to strengthen their observational and drawing skills. All ages, including teens, are welcome to join.
