The NSPRA Mark of Distinction program recognizes exemplary chapters of NSPRA in supporting the national association's mission to advance public education by building understanding and empowering professionals to communicate strategically, earn trust, and cultivate relationships.

For 2026, WSPRA was one of 16 chapters to have earned a distinction. They will be honored during the Annual Meeting and Celebration of Achievement at the NSPRA 2026 National Seminar on Sunday, July 19, at 1 p.m. CT in New Orleans, LA.

We are excited to congratulate WSPRA members Stacy Tapp APR, Jonalee Kuhn, and David Olson of the Racine Unified School District on being honored with the prestigious 2026 NSPRA Gold Medallion Award!

The RUSD team won in the Bond/Finance category for their submission: "RUSD Referendum: Strong Schools Strong Community."

Out of more than 100 entries nationwide, only 15 Gold Medallions were awarded this year. The award recognizes superior programs and campaigns that are strategic, impactful, and deeply rooted in communication best practices.

The team will be officially recognized during the NSPRA Awards Celebration and Dinner on Tuesday, July 21, at the National Seminar in New Orleans.

Congratulations to this week's Hero Spotlight: Kari Klebba! She works in Communications and Community Outreach, and is the Safety Coordinator for the School District of Milton in Wisconsin.

What she loves most about her job: "I feel like I have the best job in the world. I get to celebrate and highlight the amazing things happening in our classrooms, shine a spotlight on inspiring staff members and students and help bring people together through our social media channels!
