Did you know that Red Cliff's Library Director, Lin Migiziikwe Gokee, will be receiving a national award this fall? Lin has been nominated by the American Indian Library Association (AILA) Executive Board to receive a Rising Star Award at the 2026 Joint Conference of Librarians of Color - JCLC in Spokane, WA!

From JCLC: "The Rising Star Award recognizes emerging professionals with fewer than five years of experience, whose initiative and vision demonstrate exceptional promise as future leaders in the profession. This award is a testament to your outstanding contributions, leadership, and dedication to the field."

Lin was originally hired at Ginanda Gikendaasomin as the Library Engagement Coordinator in 2023 and was promoted to Library Director in March of 2025. They recently completed their first year of graduate school in UW-Madison's online MA in Library and Information Studies program.

Great Lakes Region NAGPRA Training
📅 Save the Date: October 27-29, 2026
📍Treasure Island Resort, Welch, Minnesota

This comprehensive training is designed for Native Nations with homelands in the Great Lakes Region, institutions with collections affiliated to the region, and organizations engaged in repatriation work. Participants will receive hands on instruction in NAGPRA regulations, compliance strategy, documentation, and collections management practices tied to repatriation.

🪶 Sessions will include collaborative problem solving, mock scenarios, talking circles, and focused workshops on compliance and museum management. Participants will leave with practical tools they can use immediately in their work.

The Great Lakes Region includes Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Western Oklahoma.

Do you know any teens interested in design and architecture? Good news: Registration is open for this year's Indigenous Design Camp!

The camp is a two-day opportunity for Indigenous youth to explore careers such as architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and more.

Dates: June 22 and 23
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Location: Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis
Who: The camp is open to Indigenous youth, particularly teens age 14-18
