Great public health in action!!!
The Board of Health for Madison and Dane County has recently passed two exciting resolutions, one that endorses the MOMMIES Act and another that declares racism as a public health crisis.
The MOMMIES act is proposed by WI Senator Tammy Baldwin, and would extend Medicaid coverage from 60 days to one-year post-partum, and, importantly to us and our community partners, would take steps toward increasing access to doula care for women on Medicaid.
By signing onto the Wisconsin Public Health Association’s declaration that racism is a public health crisis, we are continuing on our journey to address and dismantle racism, and build alliances and partnerships with organizations confronting racism.
