Postpartum Doula : providing overnight support, Certified Spinal Flow and Reiki practitioner

A birth doula is a person who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to pregnant folks and their family before, during, and after childbirth. Doulas are trained in the physiology of labor and birth as well as the emotional needs of the laboring person. It is the job of a doula to ease and speed labor while helping you to have the birth you want.

This photo popped up in my Facebook memories yesterday. Later that same afternoon, while I was at the co-op, a birth client from 10 years ago approached me.

She said she heard my voice and had to come over to share how incredibly grateful she still is for the beautiful and empowering birth experience she had with my support. With tears in her eyes, she told me that she still tells the story of that day every year.

Moments like this humble me deeply. I feel so grateful to have been trusted to hold sacred space for so many women, a space where they felt safe, seen, heard, and held in their power.

Every woman deserves to feel supported like this during such a sacred time.

We need to stop telling women they don’t know how to do this. Our bodies carry ancient wisdom. We do KNOW how, sometimes we just need the emotional support and safety to surrender to that knowing. 💜🦋

This one is for all the mamas preparing to deliver vaginally out there…

It is important to open the top of the pelvis with external rotation (think squat stretch) to help baby to engage into the pelvis.

Equally as important is to open the bottom of the pelvis allowing for more space in the lower birth canal for the baby to come through that lower canal.

Two different positions, integrated at two different times!

✨Know there is no one stretch or position that releases all of the pelvic floor muscles at once.✨

KNEES TOGETHER, ANKLES OUT = MORE SPACE IN THE LOWER PELVIS to help with pushing during a vaginal delivery.

✨Note: we simply chose all 4’s to demonstrate this position as it is so easy to see the anatomy this way. There are various positions to achieve this in! One of our favorites is to do this is in side-lying with the support of a peanut ball or pillows angled between the legs.🤗

If you are expecting, our best advice is to work with a pelvic floor therapist for birthing prep to learn which birthing positions are best for your body!!

👉Disclaimer: no babies were harmed in the making of this video.

Great visual! This Close knee position is not recognized or utilized by most OB’s or many family practic docs. This position can shorten pushing time and be very helpful when birthing a bigger baby! Hands and knees is the easiest way to use this, but it can also be done in a standing position.

If you believe you deserve nurturing only when you’re extremely upset, you’re like the majority who feel they have to be totally falling apart before they slow down and take care of themselves. But taking care of yourself should not be confined to times of crisis. Nurturing and taking care of your needs should become a daily habit, not something special to be pulled out in an emergency or when we’ve reached our limits.

Overall, Reiki during the pre-conception phase offers a holistic approach to fertility support, addressing not only the physical aspects but also the emotional and energetic aspects of the individual or couple's journey toward conception.✨

It says it woks! Some may view Reiki in a spiritual or hocus-pocus way, but friends, it’s backed by science!
