We had a blast this weekend at Faithology 2026 at Camp Glisson! We loaded up 14 of our awesome 3rd, 4th & 5th graders and 5 brave chaperones and headed to a retreat with more than 300 children from churches all over North Georgia.
There was Bible storytelling, swimming in the lake, science, crafts, singing, prayer, games, and worship—enough activity to make a grown adult question every life choice that led them to voluntarily sleep in a bunkhouse with no air conditioning.
Our theme this weekend was water, and God apparently took that very seriously. He ordered an epic storm on the night everyone arrived, ensuring that everybody was thoroughly soaked and ready to jump in every mud puddle they could find.
The rain continued through Saturday morning, but as they say at Camp Glisson, “A rainy day at Camp Glisson is better than a sunny day anywhere else!”
The most important thing these kids are bringing home isn’t a craft, or a T-shirt, or camp store stuffed animal. It’s the reminder that God loves them more than they may ever fully understand.
Our theme centered around the story of the woman at the well in the Gospel of John and the promise of Living Water—God’s love and grace that never runs dry. And our kids didn’t just hear about that love… they SHOWED it. We had 2 boys and 2 girls join our group from Social Circle UMC. I was so proud of how our kids welcomed them, included them, and made fast friends. You would never have known they had just met. It was so cool to watch our kids show the love of Jesus through the way they treated others.
And a HUGE thank you to our amazing chaperones—Sunni Gregory, Ashley D***s, Katie Anderson, Sam Anderson, and Pastor Justin Combs—who gave their weekend to make this experience possible. You embraced the noise, the mess, the silliness, and even the stink, all with a smile. I am so incredibly grateful to each of you!
Retreats are my favorite. I don’t have to plan a thing, which means I can simply show up, be fully present, and experience it all with some of my favorite kids in the world. My heart is full and my body is tired! What a gift this weekend was.
